Good evening you all, the name is FriendlyMushroom, and it's been a long time since I wrote a Teen Titan's based story. Many years ago, when the Teen Titans were still and aired series, I wrote two sister Stories: Those who ride the Lighting (Kid Flash/Jinx), and Emerald Twilight (Blackfire/Kyle Rayner (Green Lantern V)), and I did so because both were my favorite heroes at the time, I grew up with them, and loved the idea of the sidekick hero (in case of Kid Flash), and replacement hero (In case of Green Lantern V), taking the ropes after the greatest sacrifice or downfall of their predecessors. Back then I wanted to write both stories together, and end in a crossover episode between the two, but that happened a long time ago, when the Teen Titans were still popular. Also, the Flash and Green Lantern were not my only favorite characters, so was Nightwing, and Batman of course, and many others, and I always wished to be able to write their stories from the comic books perspective, which lead me to this project.
The majority of you, know the Teen Titans from the cartoon, and obviously you are here for that reason, but little are those who also know the comics. Now, the comics are very complex, you would need years of comic book knowledge to know it all, that's where I wanted to intervene, how about I gave you all, a deeper insight of the world of the cartoon heroes, using my knowledge of the comic books, to create a whole series of fics like there are comics that link together? Such though, lead me to write 5 sister stories, that happen in the same universe, and perhaps they link like eastern eggs every now and then, but are independent stories at the same time. The five stories I'm talking about are as follow:
Battle for the Cowl (Robin xRaven): Follows Robin's road from being the leader of the Teen Titans until becoming Nightwing, and later, considering taking the cowl of Batman.
Born to Run (Kid Flash x Jinx): Follows Kid Flash's evolution from being the youngest sidekick ever, to becoming the first sidekick to take on the mantle of his mentor, the Flash, who sacrificed his life a year before the events of the story.
Emerald Twilight (Green Lantern V x Blackfire): Follows the story of Blackfire, after being assigned to social service on Earth under the custody of rookie Green Lantern Kyle Rayner, who is still under training with the Green Lantern Corps.
Heart of Steel (Cyborg x Bumblebee and Beast Boy x Terra): Follows the story of Cyborg, left with the leadership of the Teen Titans, and trying to maintain the several incarnations of the Teen Titans together (North, West, East, and South), all while mentoring the unstable clone of Superman, Superboy.
War of the Gods (Aqualad x Wonder Girl x Speedy): Follows the love triangle of the exiled Atlantean, the exiled Amazon, and the not really exiled marksman, as they get into conflict with the Greek gods.
As mentioned before, the 5 stories happen in the same universe, but are independent stories, you may enjoy reading them all but it isn't really necessary. The only drawback I see for people not wanting to read them all though, is the couples, specifically the Robin x Raven one and the Beast Boy x Terra one, it's not that I don't like Robin x Starfire and Beast Boy x Raven, but story wise, these selection of couples serve my storyline purposes, so I apologize if you feel repelled from reading them for that reason, as I mentioned, there is no need to read them all, it's just… more interesting for those who read them all.
Anyway, I already said too much. For those who want to read all 5 stories, the summary and Prologue is the same, so after reading it once you can skip it. As for when will I update these 5 stories, I will update them every first Friday or Saturday of every new month, which means the 5 stories will all be updated at the same time on Friday 8 or Saturday 9 of March (Because Friday first or Saturday second is too soon).
One last note about the dates and years I use, the Teen Titan's animated series don't have a stablished date (as far as I know), but belong to the same universe as The Batman animated series, and in the Batman animated series, most specifically on the episode "Artifacts", it is stated it is the year 2027, and on that year, Robin was Nightwing, and had been so for 10 years, so, in the comics Robin became Nightwing at age 18, and since in The Batman Robin is 14, I did the backwards calculation and found the year the Teen Titans series is supposed to happen for real (2015), but this story takes place one year later, (2016), so all stories are dates as 2016, I know the series is from 2003, don't blame me, blame The Batman for not doing the maths correctly. I hope this doesn't bother you all.
I don't own the Teen Titans or any DC Comics related character, I write this for fun, for DC comics fans, and I win no money doing it. Read, enjoy, and let me know if you will read all 5 or just the one you were interested on, happy reading.
Prologue to a Titan's Legacy:
New Genesis. 853rd century.
"Companionship + understanding + assurance + joy + altruism ÷ respect ÷ commendation ÷ sympathy x innocence x dignity x success x acceptance, y = n, where, y = despair, and n = caution, love = truth, death = rebirth, and self = light side. The Life Equation is the proof that life is worth living. This is the first present I, Metron, give to you, my son." The story of the greatest heroes there to be known, is complex, as is the beginning of it all. Since different to popular belief, the greatest heroes of them all, didn't find their path toward greatness in the force of a lighting, the mantle of the night, the depths of the ocean, their beliefs in their gods, the light of willpower, the power of the closest sun, or the miracles of the technology they could harness. The true path that created the greatest heroes of Earth, the whole universe, and the multiverse, will be found in the farthest of futures, where a god used technology, to create that which is uncompressible. Life, inside lifeless objects.
The world of New Genesis from the 853rd century, is nothing but a lifeless wasteland, attacked constantly by explosions of a dark light, which disintegrated everything it touched, the anti-matter. On this wasteland of a world, only two life forms exist, Metron, an old man, in reality a god, wearing a circuit-looking bodysuit, and his son, a golden colored android, wearing nothing but a brownish scarlet cowl, in front of which, Metron placed a shapeless object, looking more like a white metal that bended in several directions and forms, forming amazing tube-like forms, and shinning from white, to yellow, to scarlet, switching between forms and colors from time to time.
"This, is the Worlogog, the Philosopher's Stone, a time-spanning engine that can be used to bend time and space. It is an exact working model of the entire space-time continuum in miniature, and maps everything from the Big Bang to the Omega Point." Metron delivered it to his son, who took it and gazed at it intensely. "The Worlogog is a fraction of the Source, and is the second present I give to you. Gaze upon it, learn everything you need to know of this and every universe, and do whatever you must to stop Darkseid from gathering the Anti-Life Equation." He explained, and the world in which they existed, began blowing up. "There is still one present I need to deliver; this present is your name. And with your name comes the greatest of all responsibilities. Your name, is Hourman. You change events, sometimes minor, sometimes major, always in the name of life." He finished, and at that very moment all that existed collapsed, leaving the multiverse in infinite darkness. The only being that existed, was Hourman, protected by the destruction of existence itself, by the will of a god who gave it all to preserve the most valuable thing, life.
Hourman knew nothing about what to do, but suddenly the Worlogog began displaying something uncompressible to any human or god, but that Hourman, as a machine, could understand. He read at an incredible speed, the whole existence, from the origin of it all, to the split into several realities. He saw all possibilities, all events from the many continuities, all of them ending in the same place, the destruction of everything that exists. Sometimes existence itself ended with billions of years of differences, but his reality was the last one. And after one year of reading the events of all reality, he discovered one, in which there was something, hope. But this hope was fated to de deleted, as everything else would.
And so, Hourman began doing what he was programmed to do, he began changing the reality, connecting events that weren't supposed to connect, and creating his own reality, and after another year of complex calculations and connecting events, one reality in which survival was possible was displayed. Yet, even though his calculations were correct, manipulating past events to create the reality in which hope wasn't entirely lost, meant the future may not behave as he expected, and if it didn't, all reality would collapse once again.
"It shall be tested." Hourman concluded, and displayed a group of 7 teens, the majority of them sharing a same history, one Hourman knew far too well. "Titans… you are all the keys to the existence's survival. Yet, not all of you are ready, or won't be ready in time. In the name of existence, I shall manipulate your world, in favor of preserving existence." He finished, and opened with the help of the Worlogog, a portal to a distant past. "My name, is Hourman. I change events, sometimes minor, sometimes major…" He finished, and so, a new reality was born.
Teen Titans: A Titan's Legacy Series.
War of the Gods: Volume 1.
Issue #1: Amazons.
Steel City, Pennsylvania. Lake Erie, Titan's East Tower. January 1, year 2016.
"Got you! Stop blocking my punches you stinking gillhead, and face me like a Drylander would! Eat my punches!" The sun hadn't raised yet, but Speedy and Aqualad were already awake. Not because they wanted to be awake, but because they were ordered to, since at that very moment they were supposed to be in guard duty for the festivities. Yet, none of them were even slightly worried about guard duty, and instead, were more focused on playing videogames.
"Why don't you want me to block? It isn't smart to allow yourself to be punched. If they gave me a shield, why not using it?" Aqualad wondered, while blocking skillfully the punches send by Speedy's character in the screen, and infuriating the marksman since Aqualad seemed to be defeating him without much effort. "What was this machine supposed to teach me again? I find this to be quiet simple." He added in boredom.
"It's supposed to be fun." Speedy complained. "But to the looks of it, you don't truly know what that means. Now quit blocking! I'm not supposed to be bested by a boring crab breath!" Speedy insisted, and finally got the upper hand. "Got you!" He continued while punishing Aqualad's character, failing to notice Aqualad wasn't playing anymore. "I win! Finally!" Speedy celebrated, and prepared to insult Aqualad, when he noticed he wasn't even playing. "What?" He asked.
"I expect an apology, not to me, but to the innocent crabs you are calling smelly by insulting their breath." Aqualad insisted, and Speedy just raised an eyebrow in disbelief. "You are always using my friends as insults! Why? Whatever my friends did to you?"
"Chill down, gillhead! Fish aren't friends, they are food! And they are delicious." Speedy informed, and that annoyed Aqualad, who then began assaulting Speedy into a wrestling like grab. "Hey! What gives? Come on! Don't tell me your people never ate a fish!" Speedy asked.
"Explaining it to you, would be useless! Now apologize to all marine life!" Aqualad ordered, but instead, he found Speedy reversing the wrestling grab, and so, both ended bickering around the floor. Or so they were, until Bumblebee arrived with a furious stare and took them both by their ears, pulling them strongly and stopping the fight.
"What is the meaning of this?" Bumblebee yelled hard, and launched them both toward the sofa. "Do you call this guard duty? You two rested during last year's Christmas while I covered you both! You were supposed to keep an eye on the monitors!" She scolded.
"We were keeping an eye on the monitors!" Speedy complained back, and faced his leader with annoyance, while Aqualad just lowered his head depressed after understanding he failed in his duty. "We watched the monitors for an hour or so, but nothing happened, so we took a break!"
"A break that lasted for several hours it seems!" Bumblebee pointed toward the central monitoring station, just behind of the sofa both of them had been playing videogames at, and at the various alarm dots around the map of Steel City. "There aren't just alarm signatures from Steel City, there is also an emergency message from Titan's West Tower!" She continued complaining, and activated the video mail.
"Attention all Titans! Do you copy?" Cyborg was displayed on screen, while several explosions occurred behind of him. "Jump City is under attack! The whole city's power lines were messed up by Blackfire, and the city is in total chaos! We Titans West got our hands busy with a freaking android from who knows were breaking havoc all around the Tower! If ya got speedsters in your teams, this would be a good time to send us a helping hand!" He begged, but was suddenly blasted away by a golden colored light.
"I'm sure they just send that message." Speedy added in self-defense, but Bumblebee pointed at the hour the message arrived at, it has arrived about 5 hours ago. "Well, I'm sure Titans West got everything under control, look, there is another message!" Speedy added cheerfully, played the message, crossed his arms and acted as if nothing was going on, but then freaked out at Cyborg's malfunctioning body.
"Titan's West Tower… is down… I repeat… Titan's West Tower is down…" Cyborg mentioned in the newest message, and a furious Bumblebee faced Speedy, who sweat dropped and hid behind of Aqualad. "To every Teen Titan leader out there, we ask for temporary members to be assigned to Jump City while we… recover from the damages… we understand New Year is a busy time to be asking for help… but right now we could really use it… Cyborg out." He finished, and Bumblebee roared at Speedy.
"The one time I ask you to be in charge of guard duty and you allow this to happen!" Bumblebee yelled, and Speedy covered his ears in pain. "I know it wasn't your turn! Más and Menos were supposed to be doing New Year's guard duty, but they were deported to Guatemala! You said you would cover on them until they finished their documentation if I allowed you to spend Christmas with your family!" She insisted, while Speedy got enough of being yelled at and began yelling himself, Aqualad in the other hand, went to the monitors in order of finding out if they were still needed.
"It's not my fault Más and Menos lost their papers during last auditory!" Speedy countered, and their discussion continued, while Aqualad continued displaying on the monitors the many messages and videos, being amazed by a particular one.
"Was there a Kid Lantern before?" He wondered, and both Speedy and Bumblebee interrupted their yelling to face him and the video he was displaying of someone the media referred to as Kid Lantern, facing off against Blackfire in the middle of the surrounded by darkness Jump City. "At Keystone City and Central City there are also reports of a girl called Impulse. Apparently Kid Flash got a sidekick." He concluded.
"That joke of a hero is once again trying to break records from the Book of the Heroic Doings?" Speedy complained while facing the monitors and seeing Kid Flash with a 12 years og costumed heroine the media called by the name of Impulse. "That damn show off! I will go to the streets and find myself a sidekick as well!" He insisted.
"You are going nowhere!" Bumblebee yelled hard, and Speedy sweat dropped at her annoyance. "Aqualad, are there still crimes in progress that need of our attention?" She wondered, and Aqualad moved his head in negation.
"Seems to me that all the criminals of Steel City ran off with their goods." He explained, and that angered Bumblebee even more. "I will keep my eyes on the monitors, great leader." He added with concern.
"Oh, of course you will, because your and Speedy's turn is just beginning." She informed, and Speedy's jaw dropped. "I don't care if you lack some sleep! You guys did nothing but play videogames all night! Más and Menos are still in Guatemala or México fixing their documentation, and I'm going to Jump City to apologize, and make sure the Titans West are all right! And no complaints!" She insisted, and slammed the metal doors of the Main Room while she headed to the hangar and was seen flying off moments later as the sun slowly raised on top of the TE-Ship.
"What's her problem?" Speedy complained, and Aqualad stared at him in disappointment. "Well, there is no use in both of us staying awake. I will take the first break, you keep an eye on the monitors." Speedy added, and before Aqualad could complain, he rushed away.
"But…" Aqualad began, but he was too late, and so, he sat by the monitors in boredom. "I didn't even want to play videogames to begin with. Sometimes I question this friendship…" He complained, and continued monitoring Steel City.
Unknown Location, Themyscira. Doom's Doorway.
On the seas of the East Coast, there is a place long time forgotten by the human race. A place where the ancient myths still exist, and where warriors of old still fight perfecting their skills in battle. Yet, these warriors are different than any others on Earth, not only because they wear ancient armors, and serve gods that to the human world are nothing but myths, but because they are all women, living peacefully and away from the struggles of the world they call: 'A Patriarch's World.' In a civilization of peace, and wisdom, that never quits training for war.
On this island, lives a young honorary Titan, who once fought alongside the greatest sidekick heroes of all time, in the first ever Teen Titans incarnation, but that today, several years after her days of glory, was nothing but a guard in duty, for a mythic and giant door that had been closed for many millennia, and that she was sick of having to guard.
"I can't take this anymore!" Yelled the girl, of scarred blue eyes, hair tied in a ponytail, and dressed in a red attire with a golden lasso tied around her waist. "Why should I have to waste my time guarding a door that hadn't been opened in millennia? I bet that even if we were to open it, on the other side no one would notice because no one ever opens this freaking door! For Hera's sake!" The girl complained, and allowed herself to fall toward the floor.
"You are at fault for this, Donna." An orange headed woman of short hair and wearing a golden armor, mentioned while facing the girl, with her arms crossed, and determined glare. "You disobeyed the Amazon's law, you went to the Patriarch's World using the name of Wonder Girl, teamed up with a group of men, and fought crime on the outside world. We had to bring you back by force, and for what? For you to escape once again and fight aliens?" She complained.
"Gordaneans, and they are a serious threat, Egeria." Wonder Girl complained. "It isn't fair, why can Diana leave Themyscira freely, but I have to stay here and guard this stupid door?" She continued complaining, while pointing at the huge mechanical mechanism that was a giant press that maintained the mentioned door forever closed.
"Princess Diana, or Wonder Woman as she calls herself now, is the ambassador of Themyscira on the Patriarch's World." Replied to her doubts another Amazon, of curly black hair, and who at that moment gave maintenance to the mechanical structure keeping the door closed. "She got a special permission from the queen, and is supposed to ensure the Patriarch's World is worthy enough of the return of the Amazons." She explained.
"Which is something that won't happen, Consiva." Egeria replied coldly, and sat by some rocks at the cave where the door was sealed. "Almost all amazons disapprove on Diana's decision, but at least she went to the Patriarch World with Queen Hippolyta's permission. You, disobeyed the rules, twice…" She reminded her, and Wonder Girl could do nothing but cross her arms out of annoyance. "If you disobey them again…" She tried to say.
"I will be branded a traitor and will never be allowed to return home ever again, I know!" Wonder Girl complained, and Egira nodded at that very moment. "It's just… it's so unfair! You may want to live for eternity locked inside this island and protecting that damn door… but I don't want this, there is a whole world outside of Themyscira's shores, why limiting ourselves to such a tiny island?" She wondered. "Also, men aren't that bad." She insisted.
"Men are horrible, and the reason of all the evil in the world." Egira informed, and Wonder Girl crossed her arms out of annoyance. "You will do good to stay away from men, and from their men filled lawless world." She insisted.
"Well it's better to be part of that lawless world than of this door-day caring one!" She yelled back, and while Wonder Girl and Egira argued, Consiva moved her head in negation and continued giving maintenance to the door, when suddenly, the gears of the machine began working, and the gigantic press began separating from the door.
"Girls!" Consiva yelled, and finally Ergia and Wonder Girl noticed the giant press moving, and separating itself from the door as if the mechanism was going in reverse. "What is going on? The machine was working perfectly a few moments ago! Let's send the alarm!" Consiva added in fear and tried to reach her war horn, when Ergia stopped her.
"And have the queen know the general of her army allowed the Doom's Doorway to be opened? We are not doing such a thing." Ergia added, and approached the door. "Fix the mechanism! I will stand guard." She ordered, while the black door adorned with the emblem of a red skull in flames, was released entirely from the press.
"This is madness! The press was released from the door! Anything could come out from the Hades at any moment now!" Consiva continued complaining, trying to fix the machine. "Everything seems to be working fine, but the door doesn't…" She tried to say, when she heard Ergia preparing her lance. "Wonder Girl, get out of here." Consiva added, getting her sword out of her sheath.
"What is going on? If this is a way to try to scare me, it is not…" Wonder Girl complained, and then noticed the cloaked figure in front of the still closed doors. "Did that… thing came out of the door?" She wondered, and noticed Ergia wasn't taking her attention away from the cloaked figure, and began backing off.
"This thing appeared suddenly." Ergia explained, while Consiva placed herself by Ergia's side. Wonder Girl tried to do the same, bur Ergia stopped her. "I have changed my mind." Ergia mentioned. "The situation is dire, go and alert Philippus, quickly!" She instructed, and despite Wonder Girl wanting to complain, Ergia yelled out first. "Do as I order you! Now!" Wonder Girl nodded, and began running away of the cave. "You broke our machine?" Ergia asked once noticing Wonder Girl had left.
"Not broke… just… stopped." The cloaked figure mentioned, and while doing it so, he took off his cloak, revealing his golden mechanical body. "My name, is Hourman. A machine from the 853rd century, created by a god called Metron, in a moment in time in which time itself stopped, and everything ceased to exist, but me." He explained, and the Amazons readied their weapons.
"There is no god whose name is Metron!" Ergia launched herself toward Hourman, who, with a swift movement of his hand, paralyzed her in time, surprising Consiva, who also launched herself toward Hourman, who with his other hand, stopped her as well.
"There are more gods than the Greek ones." Hourman mentioned, and released the Amazon warriors from his time manipulating powers. "Now that I have proven my power, and you know there is nothing you can do to stop me, you must hear me, since I am in need of your help." Hourman added. The Amazons faced one another, and nodded in agreement. "Humans think the universe was created 13.8 billion years ago, but that isn't correct. The universe was created 18 billon years ago, during what you humans call correctly, as the Big Bang. This tremendous explosion created the universe, and in such emptiness, a single planet held life, GodWorld, the First World." He explained, while Ergia began losing her patience. "GodWorld, is the planet where the species you know as Gods, was created. 3 billon years after creation, the living entities of GodWorld, took what you humans call… a more human-like form, and slowly, they began creating their society. This was the birth of the Old Gods, and the arrival of the Second World." He continued with his explanation.
"And what does this nonsense got to do with anything of what is going on?" Ergia complained, but Consiva was very interested in what she was hearing, and so, she stopped Ergia from once again trying to attack the android.
"It has many meanings, the first one, buying time for young Wonder Girl to alert the Amazons of what is about to happen, the second one, explaining to you why your sacrifice, is needed." Hourman lowered his head, and both Amazons exchanged looks. "Today… is the day you girls will die, and there is nothing you can do to stop it. You may as well reach the afterlife with the knowledge, of your sacrifice being for the greatest of goods. The survival of all existence." He explained, and Ergia readied her weapon once again.
"Wait!" Consiva stopped Ergia. "He is a time traveler, and not a common one, he can stop us with his powers. If he wanted us dead, we would already be dead, am I correct?" She wondered, and the Android nodded in agreement. "Is there nothing we can do to prevent our dead?" She asked, and Hourman gave it some thoughts.
"There are plenty of things… you could run away at this very moment, and the probability of survival will rise. But if you do, not only Wonder Girl will die as well, so will Queen Hippolyta, and countless of your sisters, you will repent of your actions for some more years, and ultimately, take your own lives." He explained, and Consiva flinched, and sobbed. "Your sacrifice is needed… but though I wish to ensure a future where time still exists… I can't stop you from trying to survive, if that is your desire." He explained.
"We are Amazons, we are already partially immortal anyway. Dead can't scare us." Ergia added, though Consiva was devastated. "If you are telling all this to us, then you are trying to prevent the future events from destroying it all, aren't you?" She asked, and Hourman nodded. "Continue with your speech." She added, and lowered her weapon.
"Much appreciated." He vowed. "10 Billion years later, GodWorld fell into war." Hourman explained, and with his machine-like abilities, he displayed a world, that ultimately broke in half. "Ragnarok, the dead of the Old Gods. The resultant explosion that divided GodWorld in half, expanded toward every corner of the universe, in what is now known as the Godwave. The Godwave seeded worlds with the potential to eventually bring forth gods of their own. Such as the Gods existing now on Earth. This means that your Gods, are nothing but the result of common human beings, being bathed by the energies of the Godwave, of course the process replicated in other planets as well, yours are not the first, and believe me when I tell you, not the only Gods." He explained. "As for the planet GodWorld, about 4.8 billion years ago, the remnants of GodWorld created two separate planets: Apokolips and New Genesis. And about 30,000 years ago, the denizens of the planets would eventually obtain Godhood and traits mirroring that of the Old Gods, but would be split in terms of moral alignment. New Genesis became dedicated to peace and goodness. Apokolips developed into a cruel, warlike culture. The Fourth World began when these New Gods attained godhood and repeated the history of the Old Gods as New Genesis and Apokolips waged war against each other, causing the hostilities to remain to the present day." He finished, and vanished the holograms. "The future I come from, is the resultant future from a war between the New Gods, a war with no winner, a war where everything that exists perished, a war that can't be prevented." He sentenced, and suddenly, the door behind of his back, was punched hard. "But there is still hope… the future I come from, is a future in which everything was destroyed… but what if not everything is destroyed, what if I can find the 7 keys, that will not prevent the war, but may change the outcome, an outcome that wouldn't bring the destruction of the Forth World… but the birth… of a Fifth World, and as consequence, the continuity of existence itself." He finished, and the door was punched once again, and it began bending.
"A fascinating story, yet, that doesn't explain what it means to us." Ergia prepared her weapon once again, and Conciva readied her own. "Why opening the Doom's Doorway? Why bringing the creatures of Hades to Themyscira?" She questioned.
"The answer is complex, but time is running out." Hourman explained, while the Doom's Doorway was punched hard a third time. "Trapped inside Hades, there is a witch that will deteriorate and destroy one of the Seven Champions I need for the future to continue existing. If this champion deteriorates, and dies, then the Goddess of Earth won't claim her throne in Olympus, as the queen of all gods. Without a queen to lead Earth's gods and champions, Earth will fall, and the 7 champions will perish. The Dark Angel, the witch I'm speaking of, was going to be released from her prison latter on anyway. But if released during a time when my champion still believes in friendship, hope and heroics, maybe… just maybe… there will be a chance of survival… at this very moment I apologize to you two, your real dead should have arrived 5 years in the future, not today… but some events needed to change, since my name is Hourman, he who changes events, sometimes minor, sometimes… major…" He finished, and disappeared just in time for the door to be knocked out open, and an immense creature came out from it, a Cyclops, one who faced both Amazons with hatred and rage.
"Free… we are finally free…" A female figure came out from the Doom's Doorway as well, she wore a scarlet colored tunic, her skin was pale and white, her ears where pointy, and her long black hair went down to her waist. "So, is it you who I need to thank for releasing us?" The woman asked, while both Ergia and Consiva readied their weapons. "Just because of your service to me, don't expect a better treatment. Dark Angel does not care about humans at all. Destroy them!" She ordered, and the Cyclops launched itself against the Amazons.
Themyscira, The Coliseum.
"Philippus!" Wonder Girl arrived, running as fast as she could, toward the Coliseum of Themyscira, the place where Philippus, the trainer of the youngest Amazons, showed the girls the ways of archery, lance and sword wielding, and horse riding. Philippus, the strong soft dark-skinned Amazon of curly black hair, was currently wielding practice swords against one of the recruits, when Wonder Girl arrived to interrupt the practice. "Doom's Doorway…!" Wonder Girl added while gasping for air, and she didn't need to say anything else, as the sole mention of Doom's Doorway meant peril, and she quickly grabbed her lance, only to lose it moments later when the mountain at their backs blew up in the form of a volcano.
"To arms, everyone!" Yelled Philippus, and the Amazons all began arming themselves and placing their golden colored armors on. It wasn't long before the Amazons knew what kind of treat they were facing, as a Cyclops rose furiously coming out of the crater of the once mountain. "Hera forgive us… a Tartarus' beast!" She informed, and ran toward her horse, Wonder Girl tried to pick a horse as well, when Philippus stopped her. "You are not ready!" She sentenced, enraging Wonder Girl.
"I am capable of combating just as much as you are!" She complained, while Philippus placed her helmet on. "I can fight! I'm a warrior! I have faced treats from the Patriarch's World! Even from the Patriarch's Worlds from outer space!" She insisted.
"None of them could have prepared you enough for the Tartarus' beasts! Stay put!" Philippus ordered, and Wonder Girl closed her hands into fists. "And beg to Hera or Athena, for there to be a Themyscira left for whenever you get your chance for greatness… it's a good day to die…" Philippus finished, and Wonder Girl noticed the concerned looks on the Amazons by Philippus' side, before they all marched proudly toward the immense creature.
"Philippus? Afraid?" Wonder Girl wondered, she had never seen Philippus like that before. "Egeria was also afraid, I could sense it in her voice. Are the creatures from the Doom's Doorway really that bad?" She wondered, and began shaking with the idea, but soon got her nerves back. "I have faced worse…" She placed her hand inside of her pocket. "We have faced worst!" She insisted, looking at her Teen Titan's communicator. "Wonder Girl calling all Titans! We need help! And we need it as fast as possible!" She begged, but the T-communicator was not working. "Uh? Why?" She asked herself, and typed on it several times. "It's not… it's not working… why?" She cried, as she saw the Cyclops roaring hard on top of the mountain. "Maybe the old one…" She added with concern, looked all around her belongings, until taking out another communicator, though this one was nothing but a tube looking gadget. "Please, it's been a long time, but please tell me you still work!" She pressed the button, and a light began sparkling. "It works! Thank you Athena!" She added, and then faced the mountain once again. "But I can't wait for you guys to arrive, I need to do this!" She added, took a shield and a sword, and began running her way to the mountain where the Cyclops roared.
Steel City, Pennsylvania. Lake Erie, Titan's East Tower.
"Nothing… still nothing… wait there is… nothing…" Aqualad continued with his watch, while Speedy, who had finally woken up, watched some cartoons out of boredom. "I thought you said you were going to release me from the guard duty once you woke up!" Aqualad complained.
"And I will, only I woke up for a snack." Speedy replied while munching on some fries. "Once my snack is done, I'm back to sleep, then I will wake up to cook some food, after which I will take a nap, and when I wake up from that nap, is when I will release you from your guard duty." He explained, and Aqualad took a deep breath out of annoyance. "Don't give me that… ocean bottom kind of empty stare…" Speedy complained. "It's not like there is much to worry about, even for Steel City's standards, it's natural we will have a peaceful guard duty for the first day of the year." He explained.
"Maybe that is true, but I don't believe you are being too helpful." Aqualad complained. "We wouldn't be doing second guard duty, if you hadn't convinced me into playing videogames just because Más and Menos got deported, I don't like videogames!" He explained.
"Well, Más and Menos wouldn't have been deported, if you hadn't gotten their papers wet when it was your turn to clean the archives!" Speedy complained. "Raising the waters to clean the hallways, yeah, I can buy that, but the archives? I'm still drying off my birth certificate!" he informed.
"It's not my fault you Drylanders still rely on paper to keep your information safe! That's primitive!" Aqualad complained, and Speedy felt a vein popping at his forehead. "We Atlanteans keep all our information inside containment units." He explained.
"What, like floppy discs or USBs?" Speedy wondered, and Aqualad nodded. "At any rate, we are not Atlanteans! We use paper for a lot of things! Remember that next time you go to a bathroom!" He explained.
"First of all, that's gross. Second of all, it is you Drylanders who decimate the environment, who are bringing this world to its imminent doom! And you are killing a lot of marine life in the process!" Aqualad complained. "If you people only used more electronic devices and worried less about paper…" He tried to explain.
"News flash! Electricity is made on hydroelectric dams that boil water to produce electricity! And such boiling water is released into the ocean killing a lot of fishes! So your argument about electricity is invalid!" Speedy crossed his arms proudly.
"But the argument about you Drylanders killing the marine life still goes on!" Aqualad complained. "There are other environment friendly ways to produce electricity? What kind of intelligent species are you?" He complained.
"The kind who needs paper to keep their important information! And preferably not getting those papers wet!" Speedy insisted, and Aqualad slapped his own forehead hard. "So don't try to place the fault at me, I made you play videogames with me in place of Más and Menos because you got their papers wet, so they got deported! So the least you can do is take care of the guard duty! Which by the way you are doing incorrectly, there is an alarm off!" Speedy complained.
"There is not, I just checked the board!" Aqualad pointed at the monitors, but nothing was going on. "See? Everything is fine!" He insisted, but then raised an eyebrow. "Though I hear an alarm as well…" Aqualad faced the monitors, but then widened his eyes. "The Teen Titans communicator!" Aqualad added and began searching inside of his pockets.
"You got pockets? I though those scales were your body." Speedy pointed, and then took his communicator out. "Anyway, the T-Communicators don't send off an alarm, and even if they did, they aren't working! I tried calling Kole, that girl is totally my type, but this thing hasn't worked since this morning's attack to Tians West." He explained.
"Not that communicator! The communicator!" Aqualad replied, taking from out of his pocket a tube with a red flashlight on top of it. "Remember? The one from the original 5! From when we forged the first Teen Titans team!" He added cheerfully.
"You still got that junk? And if memory serves me well, we no longer talk about those days. Heck, last time I saw Robin after the dissolution of the original team, I had to pretend I didn't know him." He informed, crossing his arms and giving his back to Aqualad. "I threw that thing away after Robin disbanded the team to favor Kid Flash, remember? 'We are slowing him down! He won't find his true potential if we keep dragging him down like this'" Speedy pretended Robin's voice.
"I know we don't speak about those days anymore, but that doesn't mean we have to pretend those days never happened." Aqualad replied, and went to the main computer, connecting the tube to the Titan's main computer. "Maybe someone needs our help, and because the T-Communicators aren't working, they used this one. You know only three individuals other than us could have send this signal." He explained.
"Whoever it is, he surely isn't Kid Flash! That freaking goof and good for nothing would never need the help of us sidekicks, 'Oh look at me, I am the hero of the Twin Cities and keep on breaking records from the Book of the Heroic Doings!'" This time Speedy began imitating Kid Flash's voice.
"It's not Kid Flash, his T-Communicator isn't working, but he was awake and crime-fighting at 2:00am with that Impulse girl, which means he is knocked out cold due to his metabolism. So…" Aqualad began typing at the main computer.
"So?" Speedy raised an eyebrow. "That only leaves two possibilities… either Robin swallowed his pride and decided to call us, which by the way is totally unlike him." Speedy added, and then stood up with concern. "Or…" He began.
"Or is the girl who brought us all together as a team… Wonder Girl!" Aqualad concluded, pointing at a point on the map, and Speedy quickly ran toward the screen. "The signal from the communicator, it's coming from the East Coast! In the middle of the ocean!" Speedy just looked at Aqualad with his eyebrow raised. "Don't you get it? The signal is static, which means she isn't moving by plane or ship. And there are no islands over there, at least not islands known to the Drylanders! Either Wonder Girl sank into the ocean, or she is sending a distress call from Themyscira!" He exclaimed.
"Themy-ha-who?" Speedy wondered, while Aqualad made several movements with his hands trying to explain it to him. "Wait, wait, wait… wait… I have heard that before… wasn't Themya-something the name of that men forsaken island full of beauties that Wonder Girl forbid us from visiting because she was scared I would make all girls over there fall in love with me. I tell ya, she loved me, she just didn't know it." He smiled.
"That's… not the reason we were forbidden from going to Themyscira. But yes! That island!" Aqualad explained. "But men are prohibited from going there, something really serious must have happened." Aqualad continued, and this time Speedy went serious. "We should contact Bumblebee!" He informed.
"How? The T-Communicators aren't working?" Speedy wondered, and then faced Aqualad with determination. "You go looking for Bumblebee if you want, I'm going to save Wonder Girl!" Speedy rushed toward the hangar, though this time Aqualad went after him. "Why are you following me?" He asked.
"Wonder Girl is my friend too! And you wouldn't know about her being in danger if it weren't because I kept my communicator as a keepsake!" Aqualad continued, reaching the Hangar. "But how are we going to get to Themyscira? Bumblebee took the TE-Ship" Aqualad pointed out, and Speedy began running to the hangar's closed mechanical doors. "Cyborg told us those were prototypes." Aqualad pointed out, as Speedy opened the doors of one of the garages at the Hangar, revealing a T-Car just like Cyborg's one, only of blue and black colors, the TE-CAR. "Do you even have a driver's license?" He wondered.
"We are superheroes! We don't need documentation! Which reminds me Más and Menos shouldn't have been deported if they are heroes!" Speedy entered the TE-Car and turned it on. "Are you coming or not?" He yelled.
"I get car sick." He lied, but then Speedy pressed the pedal. "Ok! Ok! I'm coming with you!" He entered the TE-Car, and after doing it so, he faced Speedy with disbelief. "Tell me again about how is a car going to help us reach Themyscira, which is in the middle of the ocean!." He added out of annoyance.
"We drive it to the ocean and see if it is waterproof!" Speedy stepped on the pedal once again, and the TE-Car speeded out violently until smashing the mechanical walls and falling down toward the lake, with Aqualad yelling like a little girl as the car crashed into the water, and began sinking, only for rising out of the water moments latter with Aqualad hugging speedy and freaked out. "Well, what do you know, it is waterproof!" Speedy added cheerfully.
"Do you mind worrying about our lives a little bit before driving a car off a 15 stories tall building? And you didn't have to crash a hole on the Tower to bring the TE-Car out!" Aqualad yelled, while Speedy began riding the now transformed into a motorboat TE-Car. Aqualad in the other hand, began connecting his communicator to the computer of the TE-Car and connecting it. "At this speed it will take us 7 hours to reach the shore of the United States, and afterwards, perhaps a 2 hours trip until reaching the place the signal is coming from. Great moment for Bumblebee to take the TE-Ship, and for the T-Communicators to malfunction!" Aqualad complained.
"Hey, relax, its Wonder Girl the one we are speaking about." Speedy added. "If there is a girl who always has everything under control, that's Wonder Girl, I'm sure she will be fine and was just surprised by… whatever situation she is involved in…" Speedy tried to calm him down.
"You know nothing, Speedy… Themyscira is a strictly prohibited island, even for Atlanean standards!" Aqualad tried to explain. "Their civilizations hate males, of any species. Just going there is suicidal, Wonder Girl wouldn't have requested for our help, putting our lives in dire danger, for just a minor bank robber or evil mastermind. Something really serious must have happened." He insisted.
Unknown Location, Themyscira. Delian Hill.
"Something really serious is happening right now!" Wonder Girl exclaimed, as she ran toward the immense Cyclops, as he used its giant hand to protect himself from the shower of arrows that were launched at him. "This is crazy! How can we defeat something this big?" Wonder Girl exclaimed, and then noticed the Cyclops had captured Philuppus, who tried to force the beast to release her by stabbing his fingers, but either the Cyclops couldn't feel the stabs, or was resisting them in order to eat Philuppis. "No!" Wonder Girl reacted in fear, and took her lasso out, running toward the Cyclops and tying her lasso around his foot.
"Wonder Girl!" Philippus yelled once noticing Wonder Girl was tying the lasso against the Cyclops, and when hearing the name, the Dark Angel, which was traveling on top of the Cyclops shoulder observing it all, faced the girl at the Cyclops' feet. "What are you doing?" She asked.
"Saving your life so stop complaining!" Wonder Girl yelled hard, and once tying the Cyclops right foot, she pulled with all her strength, even being helped by several Amazon warriors, until the Cyclops lost his equilibrium, falling and rolling down the Delian Hill and until reaching the city, where several Amazons climbed hit and began tying him up, the Ciclops still resisted, and managed to break some of the chains, but there were too many Amazons around him, and they were managing to stop him.
"Philippus! Are you all right!" Wonder Girl added in concern, as Philippus was launched by the Cyclops while rolling down the hill. She was wounded, but not enough for her not to stand up on her own. "Hera am I glad to see you are well!" She hugged her mentor.
"Enough of that, Wonder Girl… you shouldn't be here…" Philippus insisted, and kneeled while pressing her wounds. "You are not ready!" She commanded and pushed her away, went looking for her shield and sword, and took them both.
"Maybe I'm not, but still I saved you!" Wonder Girl added, getting her own shield and sword ready. "You can't deny this to me! I'm an Amazon as well, these are my sisters!" She pointed, and Philippus grunted. "Please… if I die, I want to die a warrior." She begged, and Philippus gave the situation some thoughts.
"Rise your sword, sister!" She yelled, and Wonder Girl smiled. "Let's bring that Cyclops down once again! Charge!" She yelled, and the Amazons followed her alongside Wonder Girl, and they all began throwing chains at the Cyclops, who was surrounded, but never close enough to be defeated.
"They called her… Wonder Girl…" Dark Angel spoke to herself while floating in midair. "I thought I had been locked for way longer, this is truly a fascinating discovery. Well, enjoy your moments of greatness, princess… because soon, I will release all my anger and rage upon you, and Hippolyta, will regret ever exiling me into Hades!" Red lighting surrounded Dark Angel and she launched it toward the interiors of the crater where Doom's Doorway existed, her lighting entered the crater, and reached the still open door, where a weak and heavily wounded Egeria, grabbed her sword, and tried standing up. She faced her Amazon companion, Consiva, who wasn't moving at all, then she faced the door, and readied her shield, as the creatures inside of Hades, faced her from the insides. And they launched themselves toward her.
Border Control, México.
"¡Aaaaah!" Yelled Menos, who had fallen asleep in the line in which he waited with his brother Más, as they tried asking for permission to cross to the border to the United States. "¡Más! ¡Tuve una pesadilla! ¡Nos habían deportado porque no teníamos papeles!" Yelled Menos out of fear, telling his brother about a nightmare he had about being deported.
"No fue una pesadilla, Aqualad mojó nuestros papeles, llevamos horas intentando regresar con los gringos." Replied Más to him, indicating it wasn't a nightmare, that Aqualad had got their papers wet, and they were now trying to return toward the United States, and while the two brothers discussed, the North American cop protecting the border asked them both toward the desk.
"Papers!" He asked rudely, and both Más and Menos delivered their papers. "How long do you plan on staying on USA? What brings you here? Amm…" He asked while reading the papers. "Sam and Glen… Nava… Navai… Navairiou…" He read.
"Sam y Glen Navarro, y en respuesta a la pregunta: Toda la vida y salvar al mundo." Replied Más, stating the correct way to pronounce their names, and stating they were hopefully staying forever and with the intention of saving the world. The cop however, raised an eyebrow at them both. "¿Podemos pasar por favor? Nuestros amigos nos necesitan." Más insisted, asking politely to pass and stating their Friends needed them.
"English!" Demanded the cop, and both Más and Menos exchanged looks. "You can't go to the United States if you don't even know English! Speak English! Now!" He insisted.
"Aaaaammm…" Menos began. "¿Total, confortable, hospital, chocolate y opinión?" Menos asked, and the cop raised an eyebrow at them both. "Son palabras en ingles." He explained those were all Spanish words.
"Those are words that are written the same in English as in Spanish! But they don't sound the same! You know no English!" The cop yelled hard, and Más and Menos fell down by the potent yell. "No English! No passing! Comprender, amigous?" He asked and rejected their permits.
"¡Somos de Guatemala! ¡No Mexicanos!" Complained Más once the cop thought they were Mexicans and not from Guatemala. "No es que tenga algo de malo. ¡Tamales verdes! Ahora tenemos que llenar más documentación." He added mentioning Mexicans weren't bad at all, and asking his brother about what they should do next, while Reading the rejecting signature and thinking about the next documentation to prepare. "Tal vez deberíamos aprender inglés." Más proposed learning english.
"¿Pero qué dices? Lo más cercano que sabemos a inglés es pollito chicken repollo rechicken." Menos replied stating they knew cero of English, even though they understood it perfectly, and both lowered their heads in depression, and went back to prepare new papers to try once again latter.
