So okay
I was reading Prisoners of War by DuplicityWistful(go read it, it's great!) and then read A Struggle For Peace(by me) and couldn't help it. I realised I wanted a different format, and some different stuff.
So this will follow a trial and Tonks moving on, not the time she was there. But, that will be told too.
2019 is my year of rewrites and reworks. This is the first.
There will be graphic moments, events, etc. This is your warning. If you have triggers, or issues, this is your warning. Infant loss, non-con, rape mentions.

Robes glided along the floor of the corridor as the Wizengamot entered the courtroom to take their seats. Outside, Rita Skeeter was attempting to slither her way into the proceedings, and Aurors were stationed to stop anyone from entering unless they were meant to.
Remus felt sick, his stomach had been in knots since the day he found out Greyback had been arrested and that he would need to attend the trials as well, and that Tonks would have to be there.
The war had been over for almost two years and Greyback's arrest and pending trial would be the biggest trial since the Death Eaters and Death Eater enthusiasts all faced trials over the course of the first year following.
He wished the trial had been able to be pushed back for a week and a half to give himself and his wife time to experience and recover from her first full moon. The Ministry had decided, even with Kingsley's disapproval, that the trial would take place as originally planned.
Remus glanced at his wife, well aware that she felt just as he did and that the moon was already pulling at her. She had been extremely sick that morning, refusing to eat and barely making it out of bed.
Remus hoped that at the end of this trial, they'd be able to attempt to adapt to their new obstacles and someday return to the good and somewhat normal life they had made for themselves in the first few months following the war.
Remus felt Tonks dig her nails into his hand and looked up. Across the courtroom, Greyback was being led in, large cuffs around his wrists. He was led to a chair across the room, which sat behind a protective barrier, his cuffs secured to the arms of the chair, and an extra restraint around his midsection.
Greyback looked towards them for a moment, and Remus knew Greyback wasn't looking at him, a smug grin passing over the older werewolf's face. "It's okay, Dora, it's almost over." Remus said, looking at her. "He'll be in Azkaban for life."
"I know." She said quietly, staring down at their entwined hands. "But it's never going to be over Remus, we both know that."
Remus nodded. He knew that, very well. Things would never be the same for them or their family, but he was willing to work at it and so was she. Even the Ministry and St Mungo's helped shift certain things around to ensure they'd never have to answer uncomfortable questions. The Wizengamot was given the entirety of Tonks' statement, but certain things would not be brought up during court proceedings. Remus hoped it would be a fast case and that his wife wouldn't have to take the stand at all.
Kingsley finally entered and Remus realised how many familiar people were in attendance. Percy Weasley sat next to Kingsley, Hermione was sitting next to Ewan Montague- the head of the temporary Werewolf Capture Unit, where Hermione was working through an internship. Harry, Neville, Seamus and Ron were with their mentors, using this as part of their Auror training, learning the role Aurors played in trials. Now he was glad certain things would be left aside, but still, there would be a lot their friends and his former students would hear.
Kingsley stood, pounding a gavel against the surface of his podium. The room quieted slowly, Aurors taking their places, guarding the now closed doors.
Remus could feel Tonks was extremely tense now, her hand tightening in his.
"The Wizengamot is now seated and present, and would like to call forward the case of Fenrir Greyback in accordance with the Black Law, which grants everyone a fair trial and a right to testify for themselves. These proceedings are to be kept confidential until the Ministry chooses to make a statement to the Daily Prophet. It says here that everyone currently present has agreed to this, so, Montague, if you could proceed with the charges."
Montague stood, holding a piece of parchment. "Fenrir Isaiah Greyback sits on trial today for numerous charges of assault, infecting countless victims during monthly transformations, kidnapping and three cases of first degree murder. These are the charges the Ministry knows of, and the ones he will be charged with. If found guilty, we are looking for a life sentence in Azkaban prison." Montague said. "I have here a timeline of his crimes, some of which occur as far back as the 1960s. Children being bitten as they sleep in their beds, four known children in the fall of 1964 and spring of 1965. I have duplicated this and you should each receive a copy."
Remus felt sick. He was one of those and as far as he knew, the other three hadn't survived. He had been tucked in by his mother and been about to fall asleep when the moon rose and a creature crept from the shadows of his closet...
"His crimes continued up until 1980, far enough apart that the Ministry never caught up to him, until now." Montague was saying. "I believe, if the Ministry does not imprison him today, these crimes will not end. The persecution of werewolves will not end paying for the crimes of the few who choose to do terrible things."
Kingsley nodded. "Call the first witness."
"Miss Granger, who is our first witness?"
Hermione stood, clutching a piece of parchment. "Mr Isaac Rigley, sir, but he has not shown up today."
Montague looked towards where the witnesses were sitting and Remus felt his heart sink. They had been relying on Isaac Rigley's testimony. "Very well, who would be next?"
"Mr Anton Belby."
Montague nodded to her. "Minister Shacklebolt, Wizengamot, I'd like to call Anton Belby to the stand."
A man stood, leaving the stands near Remus. The man was tall with thick grey hair, his back bent slightly as he walked to the witness stand. Montague approached him. "Mr Belby, were you given any potions when you arrived today?"
"No." Anton replied.
"Were you bribed to testify?"
"No."
"And will you answer each question truthfully to be the best of your knowledge?"
"Yes, sir." Belby said, and Montague nodded.
"You own a potion shop in Shannon, is that correct?"
"Yes, my wife and I have ran it for fifty years, since my father focus on inventing potions instead."
"Your father was the inventor of the Wolfsbane potion, is that right?"
"Yes, one of his lifelong works."
"So, one can easily assume your shop would carry the ingredients."
"That is correct, we do."
"Mr Belby, tell us about December 23rd."
"Well, the day started off as normally. Around four in the afternoon, three people entered my shop. Two men and a woman, she seemed distressed."
"What did you do when you noticed the woman?"
"She seemed afraid of the men, so I sent my wife to the back of our shop and approached her."
Anton watched the trio enter. Two men went straight for some shelves, saying something to the woman with them, who seemed to flinch back from them.
"Go to the back." Anton muttered to his wife, beginning to make his way to the woman. "Excuse me, do you need help finding anything?"
The woman seemed startled to be approached and then cleared her throat. "Yes, uh, do you have any dittany?"
Anton led her to a row of shelves away from the men, who were clearly stealing potion ingredients, thinking he would not notice. "Are you alright?" He asked quietly.
"No. Those men are part of Fenrir Greyback's pack. My name is Nymphadora Lupin, I've been held against my will there for the last year or so." She said, pretending to read potion bottles. "Please don't say anything about them stealing, I'm supposed to be the distraction. I'll pay you for everything when I get back home, I have money-"
"I can contact the Ministry-"
"No, not yet." She said, pulling a note from the pocket of her robes. "When I leave, send this to John Dawlish in the Auror office. Now, please say you're out of dittany, and we will leave."
Anton took the piece of paper, and then cleared his throat loudly. "I'm sorry, ma'am, it appears we're actually out of dittany."
Nymphadora turned, walking back to the men who were now pretending to browse shelves. The trio left, and Anton waited a moment before rushing outside, hoping to see which direction they had gone. Unfortunately, it seemed they had vanished into thin air.
He went back into his shop, ignoring the mess left behind by the men, heading to the back. "I'd everything alright?" His wife asked as he snapped his fingers at their owl, who fluttered off of a high shelf onto the table.
"They were werewolves, the woman with them was that missing one. She asked me to send this to the Ministry."
"And did you see the woman again?" Montague asked.
"No, I saw some Ministry employees but no one would tell me anything. Found out they had found this huge werewolf camp the next day in the Prophet."
"Do you see the woman you helped? Is she here?"
Anton looked towards where Remus and Tonks were sitting. "Yes, she's there."
"Thank you, I believe that's all. Unless the Wizengamot has questions for you?' Montague asked, turning to Kingsley and the Wizengamot.
"Does anyone have anything to ask Mr Belby?" Kingsley asked, but no one moved or raised their hand. "The court thanks Mr Anton Belby. Mr Montague, your next witness."
Anton left the stand, returning to his seat as Montague turned to Hermione. "Miss Granger, who's next, please?"
"Mrs Nymphadora Lupin." Hermione answered and Remus felt Tonks squeeze his hand. They had hoped that Isaac would show up, because with his information, the Wizengamot would know everything and Montague had said they likely wouldn't need Tonks to testify after that point.
Tonks stood shakily, and Remus wished he could go with her. She didn't look towards Greyback and walked stiffly to the witness stand.
She faced Montague as he approached. "Mrs Lupin, were you given any potions before you arrived here?"
"No."
"Were you bribed to provide testimony?"
"No."
"And will you answer each question truthfully, to the best of your ability?"
"Yes." She said, and Montague nodded. Tonks sat.
"Mrs Lupin, how do you know Mr Greyback?"
"I don't, really. I only came across him a few times during my work as an Auror and my time in the Order, but never really had much experience with him."
"What did you know about him prior to joining his pack?"
"Only what my husband told me." Tonks said. "He was the one who bit my husband and had a tendency to attack out of revenge."
"Can you tell us why you joined his pack?"
"I didn't have a choice, he threatened us. He wanted my husband to rejoin, but I didn't want that. He then said he'd come and infect our baby, who was only a couple months old at the time. Our son would have never survived."
"Do you know why Mr Greyback wanted your son?"
"He said he wanted a Metamorphmagus and if I wouldn't help him, he'd take our son away."
"If he wanted a Metamorphmagus, why did he ask your husband to rejoin the pack?"
"I'm not sure."
"Tell me why you decided to join when Mr Greyback invaded your home."
"I didn't, he forced me. I left my wand downstairs, such a stupid mistake, and he didn't give me a choice. He threatened to kill me and wait for my Mum to come home with Teddy."
"Was Greyback alone?"
"Yes. With my wand, I might have been able to take him, but without..."
Montague nodded. "Tell the court about the day Greyback got into your home."
Tonks left the hot shower, wrapping herself in a towel. She headed down the hall to her room, listening for any signs that her mother had returned with Teddy.
As she closed her bedroom door, a boot kicked it back open. Tonks backed off in surprise, her eyes widening as Greyback entered.
"Hello, Lupin."
"What do you want?" She demanded, well aware that she had forgotten to grab her wand from the living room.
"I gave you three weeks. It's time to choose. Now, I see your husband has started working so I know he won't join us. Now, am I getting you or your son?"
"I'd rather die than let you have me or Teddy."
"I could kill you, if that's really what you want, but then I'll simply wait for your mother to return with your son."
"Why do you want us so bad? You have a large pack."
Greyback stepped closer to her. "You can change so much about yourself. Imagine if you could control transformations, too."
"I've never changed into an animal, that's not how it works." Tonks said.
Greyback glared at her. "I want what I want, you just get to choose." Greyback choose. "Your son, you, or..." His eyes wandered up and down her body. "A son of Lupin's will probably prove to be weak, anyway, and you might be too difficult to be useful."
Tonks shuddered involuntarily.
"Your choice." Greyback said. "However, my patience is running out. If you dont choose soon, I will. And if my patience runs out, it won't be good."
"I won't let you hurt Teddy." She said.
"I don't have to, if you choose otherwise." Greyback said. "And like I said, I'm running out of patience."
Tonks looked around, looking for anything she could use as a weapon. "You know I have neighbours. All I have to do is scream-"
"Scream and you're dead." Greyback said, stepping extremely close to her. "Make your choice."
Tonks quickly brought her knee up, catching Greyback between his legs. It had been one of the more obscure things Mad-Eye had told her to do in training, but it worked. She shoved him hard, ducking around him and running down the hall to the stairs, clutching the towel around herself. She reached the bottom of the stairs as she heard his footsteps in the hallway upstairs, and ran to the door, trying to unlock it as fast she could.
She screamed when she felt arms wrap around her, pulling her away from the door, throwing her to the ground.
"I gave you a choice, now I'll choose!" Greyback snapped, pinning her down. "I'm getting a Metamorphmagus one way or another and I'm not taking no for an answer."
"So you were dragged from the home, is that correct?" Montague asked.
"Yes, he managed to Apparate with me."
"Where did he take you?" Montague asked.
"I'm not sure, I was given some robes then he kept me restrained and inside a tent for a few days until the camp moved, he said that way I wouldn't know where we were." Tonks said.
"When the Aurors searched the house, they found a bloodied towel. There was blood and another bodily fluid on it. Will you tell us what else happened before he took you?"
"When he pinned me down, the towel wound up beneath us. He forced himself on me, saying he intended to make the process as fast as possible."
"The process being..."
"Him getting a Metamorphmagus."
"And when you say he forced himself on you, what do you mean?"
Remus could tell Tonks was getting upset, and noticed she took a deep breath, steadying herself. "I mean- uh, he raped me." She finally said.
"Was that the only time?"
Remus wished he could stand up, demand that they stop and leave with her. He hated how blunt Montague was being.
"No."
"How many times?"
"I... don't know. I wasnt allowed to sleep clothed, he sometimes visited two or three times a night."
"Did you fight him off each time?" Montague asked and Tonks frowned.
"Yes, of course." Tonks answered, sounding a little offended.
Montague changed the subject. "How long were you part of the pack?"
"Fourteen months." Tonks answered.
"Mrs Lupin, did Mr Greyback ever succeed during that fourteen months? Was a Metamorphmagus born following your capture?"
"I don't know- I mean, no, not born. I lost both pregnancies." Tonks said quietly, her voice shaking. "The first was a couple of months after he took me, and the other was about seven months ago. I don't know if... if they were like me."
"And both of these pregnancies, did you consent to either?"
"No." Tonks choked out.
"Did you, either time, sabotage your own pregnancy?"
Remus realised she seemed to be getting pale, and that even from a distance, he could tell her breathing was becoming erratic. "I'm sorry, I- uh, can't breathe- I need air-" Tonks gasped, standing quickly to leave the witness stand. She barely made it two steps before she fainted, Montague rushing to try to catch her.
Remus didn't even realise he was on his feet until he was next to her. The courtroom was loud, with the Wizengamot muttering amongst themselves and Kingeley announcing that they'd take a break.
Ten minutes later, they were sitting in a room off of the courtroom, Tonks sitting with her head on her arms on the table.
"I'm sorry the questioning had to go where it did." Montague was saying. "The Wizengamot needs to here about everything. If Isaac had appeared, he could have coragagated your statements and you wouldn't have had to go up there."
"You didn't have to ask if I killed my own babies." Tonks muttered.
Remus was sitting next to Tonks, rubbing her back in slow circles. A Healer had been sent to check on her and said it was a panic attack, and that she had simply stood up too fast. They had given her a mild calming draught, and had suggested to Kingsley to wait an hour or two before calling everyone back.
"I have to ask these things. If you didn't sabotage your pregnancies, there was likely another reason to lose them both. If Greyback did something to you to make you miscarry, the Wizengamot should know."
Tonks didn't respond, so Montague looked at Remus for help. "What if I go up instead?" Remus asked. "Or the Healer who originally examined her?"
"Your testimony wouldn't be admissible, it would be whatever she told you."
"I know Greyback's pack. I can answer questions about other crimes they've committed. The Healer could verify Dora's statements, or at least provide testimony about her condition when she was brought in."
Montague thought for a moment. "I can ask if that would be allowed." Montague said. "I'll be right back."
Tonks finally lifted her head as the door closed behind Montague. Her eyes looked a little cloudy, tear stains covering her cheeks. "I really thought it would be easier."
"I know." Remus said. "Are you okay now?"
She shook her head. "I don't think I can go back in there."
Remus wrapped his arm around her shoulders. "Maybe you don't have to." He said. "Maybe we can do this without you going back in."
The door opened again and Montague entered. "So, Kingsley and the Wizengamot agree that you should not return." He said, sitting across from them. "You will stay here, with an Auror or two. Remus will be asked to come and give testimony about how Greyback's pack works, and Greyback will have a chance to answer questions as well. They will then decide based on everyone's testimony and the statements they've been given. If all goes well, this can be over today."
