Vex was a conundrum of things, Bo thought. She watched him with the young woman Aelith. It wasn't like she was stalking him and watching his every move but more like she needed his knowledge of the Dark o help with a case so she was here at his club. It had raised warning signs in her head when she and Kenzi had arrived to see the pub closed. Now they knew why. The music playing had given Kenzi a thoughtful look as she tried to recap the song.
Vex was such a conundrum because Bo had thought she had figured him out only for this to happen. Vex had many 'modes', as Kenzi dubbed them, and this was a new one. His modes were mostly asshole, asshole but helpful, asshole and unhelpful, horny asshole, joking asshole, and even a tolerable asshole. The one thing they could always count on Vex to be, was an asshole. But right here and right now he was just anything but one.
He danced with Aelith to the song that played and the few glimpses Bo got of his facial expression so how much he adored the girl. His normally hard and mocking features were softened as he never broke eye contact. A small smile that conveyed his love was upon his lips. "You're Gunna Go Far, Kid; by The Offspring!" Kenzi cried and startled everyone, Bo included.
But Bo watched as Vex's features portrayed shock then anger before turning to neutral, "oh come on!" He cried. "It was a good song till you two showed up, why'd ya have ta go an ruin it?" Vex was back to his normal asshole self.
But Bo didn't miss when Aelith grabbed his hand, and he turned to look at her, how his features softened again for a moment before becoming his hard impenetrable shell again. Well mostly impenetrable for some one had indeed penetrated it. She was the one standing behind Vex, watching his back when no one else would.
