The bleachers of the stadium roared their approval as the racers passed the starting line and onto their extreme gears. A gust of wind followed their light-speed departure. Starting in sixth place, was the all too familiar blue hedgehog with white gloves and red sneakers on his similar colored blue extreme gear: Sonic the hedgehog! Sonic sped forward toward the other racers as the stadium boomed out the race's theme which sang "~just right through gravity, just right through what earth planned! ~

Sonic sped through with confidence because he had the advantage on this track and the other tracks in the Mobian grand prix. They were tracks he had ran on foot nearly twenty years earlier while trying to stop or which he was known as then, from robotizing the whole world in which Sonic and his friends fought to nearly the last breath to prevent.

As Sonic sped through green hill zone he passed two of the racers who were ahead of him: one of the Babylonians: Storm, while Jet was still miles ahead of him, Wave had been behind him since the beginning. Of the two racers Sonic had passed, he started to pass the familiar yellow twin-tailed fox, with white gloves and red and white shoes like his own, one of Sonic's friends, Miles Tails Prowler.

"Tails!" Sonic called as he moved his board toward his friend without passing him "how's it going?"

"Oh," Tails exclaimed, shocked "Sonic! I didn't see you there! There's been nothing much on my end, Wave's been kind of slower than usual today. You think there may be something up with her board?"

"No idea, you seen Jet?"

"He's near the front from what I've seen, just right behind Shadow!" Tails called.

"So, Shadow is here too huh? Looks like it's a real party!" Sonic declared as he saw an upcoming rail "Well, you hang in there, Tails, I've got a hawk to find!" Sonic said as he sped up again.

"See ya Sonic!" Tails called before the hedgehog leapt on the rail which took him through three loops and back on the ground.

While on the rail, Sonic didn't manage to pass any more racers, but he got close to one racer, who was a hedgehog like himself. The hedgehog was pink in color who wore a red dress along with white gloves which were yellow on the end. She wore red boots with a stripe of white down the front of them. She wore a red band on the top of her head, making her quills go downward instead of being straight like Sonic's were. Strapped onto her back was a big red and yellow piko piko hammer that she wields. The hedgehog's name was Amy Rose, self-acclaimed lover of Sonic, and an occasional heroine in her own right.

Sonic tried to pass her without her noticing him pass by. His tactic didn't work as Amy saw him and sped up her board toward him.

"Sonic!" Amy exclaimed "there you are! I was expecting you earlier!"

"Amy?!" Sonic said as if he was surprised to see her "what are you doing here?"

"Been looking for you, silly" Amy said, "I thought the fastest thing alive would already be at the front with zero competition to match him." Any paused "say, I think Shadow and Jet may be trying to take your title" she finished.

"You think?" Sonic declared as he tried speeding up "guess I'll have to show Jet that I'm not just going to be shown up!"

"I'll see you in the winner's circle then," Amy declared as she tried speeding up as the blue blur sped up as well. They were neck-to-neck for a good five minutes before Sonic finally passed her and ended up in third place.

"See ya, Amy," Sonic said as he ramped up even more speed "I've got a hawk too catch!"

Sonic sped through the track at the speed of sound for several minutes. He passed the finish line signaling the start of lap two.

He sped through the track at light speeds, jumping on rails, and taking shortcuts. He eventually caught up to the next racers but not before crossing the finish line again, signaling the final lap.

The first racer was seen riding a green board that matched his feather color. Unlike Sonic, he had a very noticeable tail in the style of several hawk feathers. He had a medium sized yellow beak that formed his mouth. He had what appeared to be five large strands of feathers going behind his head in a similar style as Sonic's quills. Over his turquoise eyes he wore yellow goggles to protect them from the strong wind. The racer could easily be identified as Jet the hawk.

The other racer raced by Jets' side, keeping the lead by inches. While the other racers rode on extreme gear, this black and red hedgehog relied solely on his hover shoes to stay in the lead. On his gloves and hover shoes he wore a single yellow ring on each, so called his inhibitor rings. On his arms and legs there was a single stripe of red on opposing sides, it was not blood though, just the mark of his father, Black Doom. The body was mostly black with a chest made of white fur, he had two spines going out the back. The hedgehog's head was built mostly like Sonic's except with more upward pointed spines which were covered in black and a streak of red. His eyes were dark red with a very small muzzle being tan. The hedgehog's name was Shadow the hedgehog, Sonic's number one rival and top agent of GUN.

Sonic sped up toward the duo at high speeds when Jet took note of his late arrival.

"Well, look who decided finally to show up!" Jet exclaimed as he slowed his board to be level with his old rival's as if he was so sure that he would win that he wasn't worried about giving the lead to Shadow for a bit.

"So, how's it been Sonic, old pal?" Jet taunted "I haven't seen you since the last World Grand Prix hosted by Doctor Eggman."

Sonic followed up on his remark "Oh, you know, the usual, saving aliens from an interstellar amusement park, working with me from the past to fix paradoxes caused by Baldy Mcnosehair, and fighting zeti that live on some incomplete planet in the clouds." Sonic said recounting all his previous adventures since his last encounter with the hawk.

"You two seem to be well acquainted" the black and red hedgehog remarked.

"Me and Sonic?" Jet remarked "we've known each other for years, ever since the first World grand Prix held by Doctor Eggman." Jet paused "I remember seeing you during the last World grand prix."

"Yes, I was there," Shadow declared "and I quite remember it being a waste of my time."

"Come on, Shadow" Sonic remarked "it's just a race, no need to get all edgy."

"Telling me to tune down the edge are you, Sonic" Shadow remarked "I'm not sure if you remember who you're dealing with. It's been what, three years since our last encounter?"

Shadow was right. The last time the two rivals had seen each other was during Eggman's plan to undo his past mistakes with the entity known as "Time Eater".

"You know it! Time really does fly!" Sonic exclaimed before looking around for the other racer "huh, where'd Jet go?" he asked.

Then a familiar voice, possibly a quarter mile ahead yelled back "heading for the finish line!" Jet hollered.

"Well, that's my cue!" Sonic exclaimed "later, Shadow!" he declared before he dashed off after Jet, a sonic boom forming where he just was, as an effect of breaking the sound barrier.

"You won't lose me that easily!" Sonic heard Shadow declare as another sonic boom was formed as the two hedgehogs and hawk raced for the finish line where the crowd was cheering for their arrival.

Eventually Sonic had caught up to Jet and was racing beside him, almost neck to neck. "Just like old times huh?" the hedgehog asked

The hedgehog and hawk were within a quarter of a mile away from the finish line when Shadow unexpectedly cut in between them at high speeds. Without warning, Shadow grabbed Jet's left arm and Sonic's right arm. Shadow then slowed down rapidly, forcing Sonic's and Jet's speed to decrease as well.

"Shadow, what gives?!" Sonic exclaimed.

"What's the big idea!?" Jet cried.

The trio steadily arrived at the finish line at the same time in one of those rare three-way ties.

"Alright, what's the big idea, hedgehog!?" Jet exclaimed "did you make this tie because you knew you couldn't beat me in a fair race?!"

"No," Shadow declared pointing straight ahead "I stopped you two because of that. I can't be the only one that sees that, can I?" Shadow exclaimed.

Up ahead near the stands there appeared to be some sort of large dog, yet something was different about it. While normal hounds had one head, this one had two heads that appeared to have independent will. Everything else seemed normal, black fur, four large paws. However, the tail was largely different; instead of being a normal dog tail, the upper body of snake, triangle head and all.

The creature was causing chaos within the stands, trying bite innocent mobians, steal and or eat any food or possessions they may have. Its violence knew no remorse.

"Alright, seems like someone let their mutt loose and is doing nothing to stop it." Jet declared "Eggman's mutt, possibly?" he asked.

"Huh," Sonic paused "I guess great minds do think alike."

"No, there's something, not right here" Shadow said, "that's no ordinary hound."

"Are you sure about that?" Jet asked, "it looks as normal as it can get."

"Hmm" Sonic said "dual heads, check. Abnormal snake head-tail check. I'd say this should be quick to deal with!" Sonic declared as he took off toward the stands.

He barely heard Shadow's "wait" before speeding off.

As Sonic arrived, he saw the black multi-headed dog trying to take cheese and use him as a chew toy. Cream was uselessly trying to save Cheese from his fate.

"Mister doggy, p-please leave Cheese alone! Th-that's all I ask of you!" Cream exclaimed trying to free Cheese from the mutant dog's jaw.

Sonic jumped up and rammed at the dog with all his might to free Cheese from one of the dog's jaws. The mutt was tossed at the opposite side of the audience.

"Ya know," Sonic said, "last I checked, biting others and stealing from them isn't considered very neighborly."

"M-Mister Sonic!" Cream exclaimed holding Cheese sacredly in her arms.

"Cream, been a while" Sonic said, "you'd better get out of here before things get real serious around here."

"Alright, Mister Sonic!" Cream said as she quickly left the stands. Many members of the crowd followed her example.

The large mutt had got up at this point which Sonic acknowledged once again.

"I think it's time someone taught you some manners!" Sonic declared as he readied himself for the mutt's pounce.

The large dog charged at Sonic with high pounce. Sonic quick stepped to the left and jumped up and round house kicked the hound off the audience stands.

Sonic jumped down to face the giant dog which stood there anticipating Sonic's attack.

Sonic charged at the hound using all his speed a technique called the "boost". The large dual headed mutt intercepted it however. Its snake-head tail caught Sonic by the arm and tossed him toward the race billboard. He slightly bounced off as twenty rings were scattered around the area.

"Geez, for an oversized mutt he packs quite a punch" Sonic declared as he stood up "although I would've been disappointed if it was too easy."

The dual headed hound charged at Sonic, but not fast enough for a boost. Sonic tried quick stepping to the right to dodge it. That mutt anticipated the movement, however as it turned just as Sonic moved. In less than a second it grabbed both of Sonic's arms with its twin heads.

"Argh!" Sonic cried as it continued to apply pressure on both sides. Sonic tried to kick it off, but its chest was out of his reach. He tried kicking either of its necks, but moving them just led to even more pain in his arms.

Fortunately, a flash of black and red hit the beast's chest, knocking the wind out of it. It let Sonic go to get air again.

A familiar black and red hedgehog stood in between Sonic and the creature, serving as Sonic's guardian.

"Alright, you creep!" Shadow yelled "if you want him, you'll have to go through me!"

The large hound took the challenge, as both heads lunged for Shadow. Shadow uppercut the head on the left and drove his fist into the fangs of the mouth on the right.

Shadow jumped up and kicked the stunned hound away. It landed just a few meters away.

Shadow held out his hand to Sonic "you alright, faker?" Shadow said calling Sonic a term that ten years ago was meant to be an insult, now was an inside joke between them.

"Yeah, never been better!" Sonic lied as Shadow pulled him up back on his feet, despite his wincing from the pain in his arm.

"You sure about that?" Shadow asked, "you look like you're in pretty bad shape."

"Come on," Sonic chided "this is me we're talking about, I've been in worse!"

Shadow didn't buy it "Sonic, you should get out of here." He declared "it's dangerous to keep going while wounded and with zero rings on you." Shadow was right, that last hit from the billboard had taken all the rings Sonic had left.

Before Sonic could argue, he heard Tails' voice call "Sonic, Shadow! Watch out!" he declared.

Shadow turned around just in time to intercept the giant hound's pounce.

Shadow swung his right arm horizontally while shouting "Chaos Spear!" three spears of light materialized in front of him and threw themselves at the creature.

The three chaos spears, however, just passed right through the beast as it landed.

In the distance where the chaos spears impacted, a familiar voice cried "Froggy, no!"

When the large mutt landed, both snouts lunged for Shadow. He caught both heads on each hand; the right head fell in his right hand; the left head fell in his left hand. Shadow fell on his back due to the amount of pressure both heads were producing.

It appeared to be taking a lot out of Shadow to keep both heads at bay. "Sonic, get out of here while you can!" Shadow exclaimed.

Sonic followed his instructions loosely. He got away from the hybrid hound before stating "hang in there, Shadow! I'll be right back!"

Sonic ran all the way back to the finish line. Where he had left his extreme gear to deal with the hound just a little earlier. He found his board on the ground just after the finish line.

Jet could be seen in the area, watching the events unfold with a confused expression. Sonic just arrived to pick up his board when Jet piped up.

"Is there an issue dealing with that 'twin head' dog of yours?" Jet asked with disbelief in his voice.

"Just scaled up the difficulty is all." Sonic said getting on his board before waving "well, got to run, see ya Jet!" Sonic declared before taking his board back to the field.

Sonic headed straight for that twin head mutt with the plan to ramp up enough speed to ram it with enough force to push it off Shadow and do enough damage with the extreme gear that it may yield.

Shadow had the twin hound heads within two inches of his face, barely keeping them at bay when Sonic arrived.

Tails could be seen unsuccessfully trying to pull the beast off Shadow by pulling its snake head tail from the opposite end. Said tail was constantly wiggling from Tails' grasp.

As Sonic neared the battlefield he yelled "Shadow!"

Shadow yelled back through grunts "What is it? Can't you see I-I'm a l-little b-busy right now?!" Shadow said while keeping the twin heads far enough from his face

"Keep him as low to the ground as you can, I'm going to knock him into the sky!" Sonic hollered back.

Shadow kept on fighting to keep the beast's heads from his head, yet low enough for Sonic to reach the body with the extreme gear.

Suddenly that foul twin head hound wiggled from both Shadow's and Tails' grasps and turned to face Sonic unexpectedly.

"Sonic, Look out!" Tails suddenly cried as he lost his grasp on the tail.

Sonic didn't need anyone to tell him how to react. At the hound's sudden movement, Sonic jumped from his board. He figured one tango from the beast was more than enough, he would regroup and try something else.

Sonic's board, however, kept going even after he jumped from it. The board kept going as it pierced right through the creature's chest and came out the back covered in green ooze.

"RRRROOOAAARRR" The hound bellowed as the board pierced through its chest.

Sonic landed on the ground with a small thud. He walked slowly toward the mutt, expecting it to get back up and attack. However, the opposite was happening; the twin head mutt was disintegrating, literally turning into ashes right before Sonic's eyes.

Sonic couldn't believe it. He had meant to only stop the hound from terrorizing the place, not kill it. Sonic just stared at the scene before him in disbelief of what he had done.

This was originally planned as a teaser update for the rewrite/revival, but I decided that I'd rather scrap the original chapters for now and just post chapters following this. Besides, it's probably better this way so I don't kill your inboxes by posting all nine chapters at once. xD

Updates won't come as quick as they were before, but I won't work on any other stories until I at least get the first nine chapters done. (I hope to finish by at least Janurary) Then I'll rotate between this and PB: GTI, if anyone wants to check that out.

..I hope ya'll won't poke me with pitchforks for making you wait almost four years for this.
