Compromise
Authors note: I'm fixing all the errors in my longer fics right now before posting them. So I thought I'd get a few one-shots up in the mean time J.
Disclaimer: Everything, apart from the names up for discussion, is clearly J.K.Rowling's.
"I still think that Samuel James Potter is a good strong name." Lily replied forcefully,
"Well I don't!" James retorted, his face screwed up with obvious dislike, "I like Edward."
"But it's such an old fashioned name!"
"Samuel's a girly name!"
"It is not. It's a good, strong, lovely name."
"For a girl." James muttered childishly,
"Edward just sounds so serious." Lily replied, mischief evident in her voice, "Surely you're little boy isn't going to be so serious."
"He'll be Eddy for short. Eddy is playful. And masculine." James was looking at Lily with huge puppy dog eyes now, grinning childishly and looking delightfully innocent, "Please Lils, Eddy Potter. And if we have another boy, we can call him anything you like…just not Samuel."
Lily groaned in frustration, "But James I loathe Eddy. Can't we compromise?"
James looked at her warily, "What kind of compromise?"
"Not Eddy OR Samuel."
"So what would we call him?"
"I'm not sure yet. Anyway, we still don't know if it is a him."
"Well we already have our girls name. So why would we talk about that?"
"I was just saying." Lily added glumly before sighing, "Harriet Lily Potter. At least we know her name."
"Lily?"
"Yes?"
"What about Harry?"
