Gone, gone, gone.

The word seems to echo through the Hub with each step that Ianto takes.

Gone, gone, gone.

Really, he shouldn't be surprised. Ianto has always seen it in Jack's eyes. Cardiff has never been enough, and Jack has always been looking for something, someone more.

And now Jack is gone, gone, gone.

"He's coming back," Ianto tells himself firmly.

It's become his mantra, the only thing that can stop the pain every time he sees Jack's empty office. Jack will come back. Back for them. Back for him.

Gone, gone, gone.

"Ianto," Gwen calls. "That was Mr. Saxon. He's asked us-"

But Ianto isn't really listening. Gwen isn't Jack. She's there, there, there while he's gone, gone, gone.
