Immortal Ravenna
Judith was so jealous when the new girl came to the village. She was a beautiful Gypsy with golden hair who even turned the head or Judith's fiancé. Her name was Ravenna and she was not alone. Her brother Finn accompanied her. They rented a quiet little shack for the night.
She is nothing but a Gypsy harlot, Judith thought.
That same night, the Gypsy girl's brother came into Judith's room. He stabbed her fiancé and gagged and tied her up. Judith could only imagine what might happen to her. She tried to scream and struggle, but the man was too strong. He carried her to the shack that he and his sister were staying at. When they entered the shack, Judith immediately recognized the Gypsy girl sitting by the fire. The brother placed Judith on the floor and stood guard at the door. Judith was crying with fear.
"I know of your jealousy…and your anger towards me. But do not worry my dear. I do not plan on stealing your love. However, I do plan on stealing something else," Ravenna said.
Ravenna stood up from her chair and kneeled in front of Judith. She removed the gag, but Judith was too afraid to scream.
"My sweet Judith, you are the most beautiful maiden in the village. A quality that will benefit me greatly…" Ravenna whispered.
Ravenna put her hand to Judith's face and the two locked eyes. Judith was frozen with fear. She could feel herself becoming weaker and weaker as her breath seemed to be taken by Ravenna. She looked on as Ravenna's features became younger. Ravenna dropped her to the floor. Judith looked at her hands, which were now wrinkled and frail. She touched her hair, now dry and grey. She had no time to mourn the loss of her beauty, for Finn had stabbed her in the back. Ravenna had retaken her seat at the fire.
"Am I a bad person, brother?" Ravenna asked, with a sorrowful tone.
"Of course not my dear sister, you do what you must to survive. You were endowed with a power that will help us avenge our people." Finn assured her.
Ravenna looked on into the fire. Soon she would be able to use her power to rule this wretched land and claim it the name of her mother and everyone she had lost…
