When Chance takes a shower after a job, the water fiercely stings his raw skin and the scratches he almost inevitably seems to receive at some point in the course of events. When he's lucky he doesn't have to work around a fresh bullet wound or knife cut.
When Guerrero takes a shower after a job, it's usually not his blood that's leaving red droplets on the tiles.
When Ames takes a shower after a job, it's either to get rid of lots of baby oil because she had to climb through another claustrophobic air duct or to warm up after having run around scarcely-clad all day long because she served as "the distraction" again.
Not to mention the touch of a fat thug or two she had to endure for the sake of whatever crazy-ass plan they had come with at the last minute because the first, well-devised one didn't work out.
When Ilsa took a shower after a job the water used to be mixed with tears more often than not while the tension was slowly falling away and she was realizing just how close a call it had been. This has gotten better lately, but she still needs the hot water as a reminder that they'll live another day.
It's safe to say, they all have their different reasons to get into the bathroom as fast as possible when coming home, which is exactly why they often go their separate ways very fast after a successful operation. It's always Winston who gets to use the shower first then.
Sitting in the van, Winston is the one who has to listen to all their enemies' threats, the unforeseen developments, the zillion plans not working, the gunshots, the explosions... and most of all the silence that follows the latter events, the goddamn silence that seems to stretch into eternity, till somebody bothers to speak up and let him know they're okay.
Of course they don't talk about what that does to him or how sorry they are for putting him through this. Ilsa tried to, in the first week or so. Even considered a team coaching session.
Then she understood they don't need to.
Who needs talking when a hot shower speaks volumes?
