Li Xiao only knew the wheelchair. He had never walked and envied everyone who could. They weren't stared at like an animal in a cage. But...worse of all was the questions they would ask.
Why are you in a wheelchair? What happened? Does it hurt?
The Hong Kongese wanted to punch them. It was even worse when they stared at him from a distance because their eyes burned with those questions. This was why he hated leaving his house. People were out there. But, Yao always would force him to go once a week, saying it was best that he got some fresh air.
That was how he ended up in the park that summer afternoon. That was how Li Xiao met him.
Li Xiao glared at the dirt path. He hated dirt. He couldn't feel it with the soles of his feet. The ten looked up at hearing something dragging and tapping on the path.
A blond teen was walking towards him, a red tipped white cane out in front of him. The cane touched the bench next to him and the blond shook as he reached out, feeling the air. Silently, he sat down and everything was back to normal.
The Asian teen watched the blond, who stared at nothing with glazed purple eyes. He swallowed then spoke. "Hello?" The newcomer jumped violently at the noise and looked towards the sound.
"H-hey." Li Xiao moved the best he could in his wheelchair to face the blond better. The teen was staring at him, but not seeing him.
"Where are you from?"
"L-Latvia, y-you?"
"Hong Kong."
And for the next hour they talked and Li Xiao decided he liked Ravis. The blond never asked questions or gave him any pitying look. As much as he would have liked to stay, Yao returned. He said his goodbyes and allowed the Chinese man to push him away.
Ravis listened to the sound of wheels on dirt. A small smile formed on his lips as he stood, putting his cane out in front of him. So that's why Li Xiao didn't ask about his eyes or cane...he knew exactly how it felt.
