Summer Camp: Muggle Style!
Introduction
Harry filed into the Great Hall, where all fourth years were seated at a table, talking eagerly amongst themselves.
"What do you think Dumbledore's big announcement is?" Ron Weasley asked excitedly.
"I don't know," Hermione Granger replied, taking a seat across from Ron and next to Harry, "Perhaps he's got those new textbooks for Charms?"
"Honestly," Ron said, rolling his eyes, "You could take anything that has any hint of excitement or fun in it and turn it into something far worse than Potions with Snape."
Harry laughed, but Hermione just glared at Ron.
"I don't think he'd call a big meeting with all the fourth years somehow, to discuss textbooks." Harry pointed out.
Hermione gave an impatient sigh, "It was only a suggestion!"
"Well-"Ron was cut off by Professor Dumbledore, who rose from his chair, causing a great hush to fall over the room.
"Thankyou all of you, for gracing me with your presence." He beamed around the room, "I'm sure you're all eager to know why I've called you here tonight, so I'll skip right to it, shall I? It gives me great pleasure to announce that all fourth years will be apart of a new Muggle Studies program in the first four weeks of this summer."
A mixture of reactions could be seen across the faces of students. Some looked excited and whispered a few quick comments to their friends, and others, being mostly Draco Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle, looked utterly disgusted.
"Muggle Studies?" Malfoy sneered, "This is absurd. I always knew Dumbledore was a crazy old git-"
"Quiet please!" Dumbledore called, his voice tired and aged. The hall immediately fell silent.
"Each of you will be attending a summer camp in America-"
"Summer Camp? With Muggles? This is absolutely ridiculous! There is no way I'm going to spend a summer around a whole camp of mudbloods-"
Dumbledore looked angered, but somehow managed to keep himself calm. "Everyone will be attending. Well, all of those who wish to pass onto their next year at Hogwarts." He gave a small smile to Draco.
"I can't wait to tell father about this nonsense," Draco muttered to Crabbe and Goyle, "He'll put a stop to it."
"I think it's time some of us learn to put aside our differences. Now, you will all be receiving the details in the next few days. In the meantime, I have arranged some pamphlets," Dumbledore waved his wand, and a pamplet appeared in front of every student in the room, "For you to take a look at."
On the other end of the table from Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle, Harry, Hermione and Ron were becoming quite excited about the camp.
"This is going to be so great," Ron grinned, "I can't wait!"
"Oh yeah," Hermione gave him a sly smile, "I bet you'll enjoy dinner clean- up the most. No magic at all. You'll have to wash all the dishes yourself. There'll only be... oh, I don't know, a few hundred people there."
Ron's face fell.
"Attention everyone!" Dumbledore called, "Everyone will now retreat to his or her dormitories. Your parents have all been notified about this trip, and all have agreed, although some parents were hard to convince."
Everyone, including Dumbledore, glanced over at Malfoy, who scrunched up his nose, "What?" He shot back.
The room quickly emptied, and the hallways leading to the house dormitories were filled with talk of what the coming summer would hold. There was only two weeks to go, and then they'd be off.
