He knew Serenity like he knew how to breathe.

He just did.

Sometimes, though, breathing came hard, and sometimes Serenity wasn't quite right, either.

Sometimes she was broken and empty.

He'd fixed her, but she was still empty, and breathing was just too damn hard.
