Author's Note: This is my first fic...just read and review 'k?
Soon after the war ended, we Animorphs went our separate paths. We had lost, we had surrendered...and there was nothing we could do about it now. The seemingly endless battles had already taken the life of one of us-Rachel. That was all we could take. We fought a few more, but then decided we had had it. That was the end. And after all that, the Yeerks...they now were free to take over the minds of humans, to add them to their slaves of Hork-Bajir, Gedds, and Taxxons. I write letters to Marco and Tobias occasionally, but Ax went back to his home planet and I have lost all touch with Cassie.
I am still single at 21 and work full-time as a corporate lawyer. I have a nice house in Ohio and am pretty wealthy. On weekends I love golfing and fishing and sittin' on my butt to watch TV with chips and popcorn...ahhh. I like my life now better than when we were fighting. Less stress, even though the world at work gives me stress enough. I hope to one day get married and start a family of my own.
Marco, my former best friend, lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico. We're still friends, but we've sort of grown apart over the years, after we left college. He's engaged to a pretty young woman named Isabel, and they are planning on having kids and starting a family after getting married. He works as a comedian at nightclubs-how perfect for him and his humorous outlook on life!
Tobias is still hawk-he's gotten plenty used to his life that way. Of course, he doesn't work as anything; he still lives in the same meadow that he always has ever since he became a nothlit. And he has sworn not to ever mate or anything with another hawk since he is half-human and would prefer not to do any things that he thinks he shouldn't do.
The thing that saddens me most is Cassie. I loved her more than anything. She was the sunshine of my life back when we were fighting. But to my dismay, she left me for another man. I still love her of course, and I hope that one day she will return to me. She was so sweet, and spent countless hours taking care of sick animals in her Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in her barn. I remember once when her dad took in a little injured skunk and she was worried so much about the little skunk kits without their mother that she morphed into a skunk herself to take care of them until their mom was well enough to come back and take over the job. I don't know what she's doing right now, if she's married, where she lives, or even if she's still alive. I miss her terribly...
Now that I think about it, the whole thing was kind of silly. 5 junior high school kids against a whole planet full of Controllers and Yeerks...who did we think we were? We couldn't have won even if we had tried. But I only hope that the world won't come to an end too soon, and that maybe, by miracle, something will drive the Yeerks away, or they will all die off somehow. Maybe...
