Destiny can be a wonderful thing, but it can also be terrible. Destiny can put you against old friends, cause you to do awful things...
I am one of those unfortunate Digimon caught in a trap of destiny...

"Oh!" I say suddenly as a strange energy flows through my small body. I can feel myself growing...

I am a Botamon, just a few days old. Or rather, I was a Botamon. The caretaker, Elecmon, always brings lots of fish for us baby Digimon, so it usually isn't long before a hatchling Digivolves for the first time, into In-Training.

The transformation completed, I now had two long ears, large eyes, and a big toothy grin.
Ah!, I think, excited. This is what I am. "Hello!" I say happily to the human boy who is holding me. "My name is Koromon!"

He smiles back and replies, "Congratulations on digivolving!" The other baby Digimon congratulate me, too.

A day or two, or more later -- I was having too much fun to keep track of time -- the human and the Patamon accompanying him leave. I venture into the Digiworld not long after.

An amazing place, File Island... What's across the sea? I'll find out someday, I promise myself that.

Much later

The Digidestined wandered into an old, Rome-style arena. The soccer ball and goals weren't exactly Roman, though, and the kids gave their Digimon a crash-course on the art of soccer.

A little later

Trapped when one of the goals had turned over and electrified, most of the Digidestined were helpless. The entire stadium had been a trap from the start. The only Digimon free was Agumon, who had been stuffed full of food before and was doing poorly against his opponent, another Greymon. A deperate act on the part of Tai, however, turned the tide quickly and his Digimon digivolved into an Ultimate level, the chaotic SkullGreymon.

SkullGreymon easily took care of the opposing lower-level Digimon, and continued on to destroy most of the arena.

The Greymon's final thoughts echoed in its mind before vanishing into digital data.

Well... Now I know.. The other side of the sea...

...

Hey.. that kid with the Patamon looks familiar...
