Roxas was falling.
From the sky, he fell, along with Sora and Riku, still encased in the former's body, still whole with his Other. Even when he technically didn't exist anymore, he was still there, in the sidelines, watching through Sora's eyes. He'd been there when Sora read Kairi's letter, that letter that touched his heart, Sora's heart. The door that held enough much light that it led to the opening of the door, the one that lead to home. And now here they were, falling throught the shared sky, towards the place that seemed unfamiliar yet felt right at the same time.
They landed, and the impact was jarring enought that Roxas' presence flickered for a moment before settling when Sora's head broke the surface of the water.
"Sora! Riku!"
And there it was. The voice that was so similar to who Roxas had been waiting for since being reunited with his Other. Sora swam to the shore, his excitement joined by Roxas' own, anicipating her.
There were shrieks of laughter all round as Donald, Goofy, and the King—Mickey—ran forward to tackle and glomp the brunette and his companion, causing the first to fall back onto the water briefly before sitting up again. Roxas allowed himself a brief moment to ponder and mourn the loss of his best friend, Axel. He regretted not being able to spend as much affection on Axel as the redhead did with him, but he could only hope that wherever he had gone, he was happy. He deserved to be.
After a hug each for the duck and the dog, and glancing over to Riku, who was obviously equally happy at seeing the King, Sora's gaze lifted over to the girl who had waited for him. Kairi.
He reached into his pocket and drew out the Wayfinder, the supposedly lucky shell charm she'd given him, and smiled up at her happily. In that moment, Roxas felt himself being pulled onto the surface, finally appearing as himself for the first time since he'd reconnected with Sora.
For that moment, as he looked up at Kairi, she changed as well—to the girl he eventually found. Naminé, this time.
In the briefest exchange of smiles, they told each other what they'd left out before, and just before Roxas sank into Sora again, he mouthed three words of relief: I found you. He melted back into the brunette's conciousness, feeling his happiest in a while.
"W-we're back," Sora said, wiping runaway tears from his cheeks.
Kairi held her hand out to him, and smiled. When she spoke, Roxas could hear Naminé's softer timbre underlying the auburn-haired girl's voice. "You're home."
And he was.
A/N: Okaaaay. First in-game one-shot, yay, finally! I had this idea wayback, even before SB, but I waited to let itself play it out in my mind when I watched the KH II ending sequence again. What do you think? Too much? I thought I should end it with the "I found you" line, but it was too short, so I added the rest. The title was also, orginally supposed to be I Found You, but was changed to this for the same reason. I'm sorry as well if you were confused with Sora's view and Roxas' view, so I'd like to clarify that this is entirely Roxas'. Sorry. ._.
Reviews are loved; please give me some feedback to help me improve. I wasn't very sure how to interpret the ending properly... But thanks for reading!
