May We Meet Again

He watched, feeling numb, as she walks away from Camp Jaha, her dirty blonde hair disappearing into the forest. He knows he has to tell the others.

"Shit." He mutters to himself. He has to tell Abby that her daughter has just left and has no intention of coming back any time soon. He supposed that it was better to get it over with now and walked towards where she was staying in the medical wing.

Abby Griffin was lying in bed when Bellamy entered the room. She was feeling fine, but nobody would let her get up. Didn't they understand that she was needed to treat their wounded? She felt so useless lying there.

"Where's Clarke?" She asked, looking confused. She was expecting to the two of them to be together at all times after being separated for so long. She knew how Clarke felt about him, a mother's instinct was never wrong.

Bellamy flinched at the question. "She's gone."

"Gone where?" Abby demanded.

"I don't know."

"When will she be back?"

"She won't." His voice trembled as he realised that she was never planning on coming back to them. He would never see her again. Never get to provoke her into childish arguments until they'd both forgotten what they were even arguing about.

"What the hell do you mean she won't be coming back? How could you just let her leave? She won't survive out there on her own. She'll be alone and cold and hungry and she'll probably get ripped to shreds by some wild animal." By the end of her rant, Abby was screaming at Bellamy.

She saw his face crumple and realised that she was not angry at him. She was hurt and angry that Clarke would just leave, without even coming to say goodbye. She knew that the two of them had their differences, but she didn't think that Clarke would just forget about all of the good times like that. And now she was taking it out on someone who was probably feeling just as bad as she was.

"I'm sorry." She whispered. "It isn't your fault. She's so stubborn. Once she's made up her mind, nobody can get her to change it. She's like her father in that way. There was nothing you could have done to stop her."

"What if you're right?" He replied. "What if she's hurt and needs help and there's nobody there to save her?" His eyes met Abby's and she saw the hurt inside them. He blinked and a tear started slowly making its way down his cheek. "What if she's dying?"

"How long has she been gone?" Abby asked.

"About ten minutes." They had been the longest ten minutes of his life.

"You'd better hurry up then." Abby smiled at him. He looked confused. When he worked out what she was saying, he immediately sprinted from the room and in the direction that Clarke had gone.

If it was the last thing he did, he would make sure that they would meet again.
