Anna found Elsa in the garden one clear moonlit night. There was a cool breeze, she noticed, but it seemed like a very peaceful scene. The crunching of her boots on the fresh powder couldn't have been quiet, but Elsa stood still, gazing into the moonlit sky.

"It's a beautiful night," the Queen began, "I'm not surprised you're up and about."

Anna sighed peacefully as she plopped down on a bank of snow, and threw her head back to the stars. This is a good night, the younger girl told herself. A good night to tell her. Elsa turned to her, and trod her way to Anna's side. Letting herself down slowly, she exhaled.

"Before the accident, you used to say that the 'sky was awake', so you were too."

Elsa looked at her sister thoughtfully, then turned away and continued.

"I often gaze out at the night sky, just to clear my head."

"Is that what you do all those long nights, when you 'work late'?" Anna queried.

"No. I-"" Elsa stopped, and gazed up at her now-standing sister. Cocking her head, she changed tracks.

"Are you feeling alright, dear sister?"

Anna turned away, and clasped her hands before her. The stars were truly one of the more beautiful things she'd ever seen, and she often remembered cajoling her elder to play with her on those nights.

"The sky is awake, so I'm awake. So I have to play."

Her eyes watered in spite of the chill of her surroundings.

"I have to play... to the music of life," she choked.

Turning quickly, she extended a hand to her concerned sister, and beckoned.

"Dance. With me."

The Queen was fascinated with the hand. Mere weeks ago, she would have bolted. And now she was finding her heart warmed by the one person she needed to protect above all else. Elsa took the proffered hand, and leveraged herself to her feet.

Looking around her, she saw a garden she'd loved to come to, when she was a little girl. A garden of peace; a garden of happiness. With a faint smile, the mistress of winter gazed at her most glorious treasure. A sister, a best friend; heart worn on her sleeve, this girl had always been the centre of her heart. Elsa's lips curled into a smile of content.

"I will."†

The twin hearts of courage and solemn joy circled one another, in a slow dance of praise. There was no other, no one that could ever be here. This was their garden.

Anna cleared her throat, and gazed up to her sibling. Still twirling around each other, Elsa and Anna came to a still stance, and wondered at each other.

"I," the younger's eyes watered once again, "I've been thinking."

Elsa quirked a brow, and said nothing, waiting for the words of a sister her life belonged to several times over.

Anna struggled on, "I need someone to be here. Always. For me. Always."

She pointed to her heart, and shyly met her sister's eyes. Elsa wet her lips, and considered. A heart that can always be there for her.

"Don't mistake my meaning," the Princess started again, "You'll always be here. But not when you're busy."

Teal eyes cast to the side, and Anna readied her heart to remember this moment forever; to never let go. Gulping, her older sister inhaled, then let her eyes fall shut. She opened them, loving and adoring, and feeling. An ungloved hand cupped Anna's chin, and guided her face to the other's.

"I will always love you. I will always be here." Elsa rested a hand on Anna's, and held her fingers above her heart.

The two souls of passion and responsibility resumed their circle, and the sisters that bore them rested their foreheads together. Never leaving each other's eyes.

Never leaving each other's heart.
