Breathless
The light brightens nothing, nothing at all
There is a humming in my mind that will not leave me
Still, you are utterly still.
Tears begin to burn my eyes,
And I try to hide behind pride,
But know that nothing can stop this pain
There is nothing my beloved
Nothing without you,
Just as I am nothing.
Of all the things I have done,
Of all that I have dreamt to do over the years,
There is one thing I never could quite accomplish.
I was never able to tell you have perfect you were,
How much you meant to me,
And how your perfection radiated from your cerulean eyes,
Warming my soul completely.
Yes, I am nothing without you.
The warmth is gone,
The light is gone,
As I stare at you now –
Breathless.
I could not save you when you have done for me
That which can never be challenged,
That which is beyond any other compare.
I have let you down,
Where you never once began to disappoint me,
And there is a grief that burns.
Oh, my beloved, how beautiful you are
Even now
You cause me to go breathless.
Cold,
Your skin, once warm, is cold against the tips of my fingers
A light that shone in your eyes is gone.
You are all that I have
You are all that I have ever cared for,
Now you lay breathless before me.
Hephaestion, without you I am nothing.
Perhaps I have been nothing all along,
For you are the only one that could make the world go still.
You are the only one to make every man, woman, and child
Breathless
I was nothing all along, compared to you,
For you truly are the Great,
And I am now left breathless.
