A/N- I just found this poem I wrote about the nemesis dynamic between Doof and Perry a while back. So, I'm posting it online! This is free-verse, so not all of it will rhyme.
Doof's POV
You thwart me, but I enjoy it.
I ramble for hours, yet you listen.
You are a good guy.
I'm a wannabe villain.
So how did you accept me in the first place?
You never give up on me, no matter what.
I don't understand….
I can't explain
All these emotions.
I didn't know what love was-
Until Vanessa was born.
I didn't know right from wrong-
Because nobody taught me.
There are so many things in this world…
That hate me.
And because I don't know how to deal with them,
I hate them back.
But you….
I just can't hate you.
You're my nemesis,
You beat me up,
You destroy my creations,
But for some reason, you're always by my side.
When I felt down about kickball, you rubbed me on the back.
When I was sick, you cared for me.
When I thought I was bad at being evil, you cheered me up.
When Balloony was destroyed, you patched and gave him back to me.
But most of all…
I look back on the whole Peter the Panda ordeal,
And wonder…
Why you were so upset that day.
I realized…
We needed each other,
Like a symbiotic relationship.
I can't be me without you,
And I bet you can't be you without me.
You always come through, so naturally.
And when I'm scared, you pull me through.
I realize now…
Forever, best frenemies, me and you.
Perry's POV
Doof, you need to know you're not alone.
I'm always there for you.
Even when I leave for the day, I'll be back real soon.
I'll give you the strength you need,
Because we're frenemies naturally.
And I can't imagine me without you,
Or you without me.
We'll always come through,
Because we're frenemies naturally.
And I get scared too,
Yet sometimes you inadvertently pull through,
Forever, frenemies, me and you.
