Chapter 1
Kim's stomach churned, the pregnancy test stick almost dropped into the sink from her shaking fingers. The two pink lines mocked her no matter how many times she shook it. The two pink lines wouldn't go away. It had been the same with the other three sticks. It was official Kimiko Mori was pregnant. She sunk onto her fake porcelain tiled floor of her bathroom floor. Panic was taking was taking over. Kim flung the test stick away from her. She dropped down to the floor to curl up. The twenty-five years old shook with silent sobs. How would she be able to go back home to her parents? They would disown her if she came back pregnant with no father in sight. Kim bit her lip. She knew who the father was, the only one it could be.
Vlad Masters.
Four years ago.
Kim couldn't tear her eyes away from the writhing young man strapped to the gurney. His screams filled with terror, and pain. He was attempting to claw at his face. His face was horrible, covered in oozing green boils.
"Get him sedated!" yelled the lead E.M.T.
"We need to get him to a room ASAP!"
The man began to seize, he shuddered and moaned. He went still. His heart monitor flatlining. The noise haunted Kim.
"Shit!" The E.M.T. started unbuckling the man from the gurney. The E.M.T. pushed down on the patient's chest, starting CPR.
The E.M.T. grunt as he was thrown into a wall. The patient sprang up, his eyes wild.
He panted with ragged breaths. The very air crackled with heat and something powerful.
"Stay away from me you MONSTER!" The young man with unnatural strength fought tooth and nail against the staff trying to sedate him.
He was yelling at the ceiling.
"Stay away from me! You can't have me, I'll die before I let you."
To Kim's and the rest of the staff's horror. The young man gouged his nails down his arm. Blood flowed.
Kim stood and took a breath.
She looked at the ceiling, she couldn't see anything but the young man could. She may not have followed her grandmother into hunting but she knew what a powerful presence felt like.
She reached into the supply closet. Her fingers closing over a handful of magnesium salt. It wouldn't hurt anything powerful. But it would make whatever was haunting this man go away if only temporarily. She was cautious as she stepped towards the patient. He whirled on her, baring his teeth. His wild eyes glued to the ceiling.
Kim held out her hand with the salt in her palm.
"Do you see this salt?" Kim's voice was soothing. The man's cold blue eyes glared at her. He nodded.
"You have a monster haunting you. I throw this at and it will be gone for a while." she edged closer. The rest of the staff watched her with bated breaths. He looked at the ceiling again. Then back at her.
"He's only laughing at you." He fixed his eyes on Kim. Shivers went down her spine.
"Tell him I purified it." Kim told the patient as she stares up at the right corner.
She felt a shift in the air.
She gritted her teeth and focused on the salt. She wished she had learned more about this sort of thing from grandmother before she died. It had been so long since she had done a purification. she closed her eyes and focused on pour as much as energy into the salt as she could. Kim opened her eyes and the salt on her hand resonate as she purified it. She flung the salt at the unseen creature.
The inhuman howl that echoed in the hall caused Kim to clap her hands over her ears. The presence was gone, the heat lifted and so did the feeling of despair. The young man's eyes rolled into the back of his head. He collapsed on the gurney.
"What the hell?" the E.M.T. looked between the two. Everyone one rushed over to help the young man.
This is a line break.
Kim sighed as she pushed food cart down the hall. Her coworkers twittering and gossiping as she turned the corner. It had been one year since the incident with the haunted man. She hadn't seen him since. But everyone whispered about him. He was still in the private wing. She scowled as she took the dirty food trays and dishes down to the kitchen. Her co-workers were polite but Kim wasn't invited into their talks at lunch. She was the odd man out.
Kim didn't fit in anywhere. She didn't fit in back home with her family. Her father's side of the family thought she should already be married with children. Her mother's side of the family thought she should have become a hunter and done her duty protecting people from the unseen.
So she ran away to Wisconsin to a nursing program. But the problem had followed her. Ghosts of all kinds coming to bother her. She had to numb herself with special pills to stop from hearing them or seeing them.
Kim straighten her back. She could get through this. She was going to be a successful nurse and she wasn't going to let anyone, dead or alive stand in her way. Kim finished out the day with a smile on her face.
She pulled on her coat.
"Miss Mori!" Dr. Xander yelled running to catch up with her. Kim stopped and waited for the Doctor to reach her.
He held a up a finger as he panted. His sweaty palm braced against his knee.
"Miss Mori, you are my only hope." He looked at her with pleading eyes.
Kim quirked an eyebrow.
"Really?" she drawled. She put a hand on her hip.
He nodded solemnly.
"The patient you were able to calm down with salt. One year ago, do you remember him?"
"What about him?" Kim folded her arms over her chest. Her brown eyes narrowed.
Dr. Xander sighed and pulled off his bottle cap glasses to clean them on his shirt.
"He has been here for one year now with no signs improvement. He has had no visitors to my befuddlement. Not one, not even his parents. They pay the bills but refuse to come see their son." He paused to put his glasses back on.
"The boils have healed over, but he still has delusions, hallucinations. He is very isolated not even the other staff will stay longer with him then they have to-"
Kim cut him him off.
"What does this have to do with me?"
Dr. Xander fidgeted.
"Well I am hoping you could become his nurse and help me with him. Since you seemed to be the only one not afraid of him. Or coming up with superstitious nonsense."
Kim pursed her lips.
She didn't want to mess around with whatever was haunting the patient. But his tortured screams echoed in her head.
"Okay, yeah, fine I'll do it." she sighed defeated. How in good conscious could she leave him to fight a monster alone?
Dr. Xander beamed at her.
"I'll see you in the morning, Miss Mori ."
Kim groaned and rubbed her temples.
"Why did I say yes?"
This is a line break.
"Hello Vladimir, I brought you a new nurse." Dr. Xander clapped his hands together cheerfully. The patient didn't respond to this. He just stared out the window with dead eyes. Kim glanced around at the hospital room. It was barren, the walls were a blinding white. No personal items, no get well cards, just nothing but the man in the room. It was sad, depressing. No wonder the guy was comatose. Kim narrowed her eyes at him. No it wasn't just that. He had no energy, was that thing haunted him also feeding off him? She looked closer at the young man. His hair was very light gray, his pale skin was gaunt, his dark circles had circles from lack of rest. He was too skinny not eating enough. He had an aura of misery.
Dr. Xander sighed the lack of a response.
"Miss Mori, will you check his vitals and settle things here? I have more patients to see. Good luck."
"Go on ahead." She nodded at the Doctor.
Dr. Xander left.
Kim looked aroubd the room and blinked at his vitals on the monitor.
He had a fever of 106 and was still functioning. His heart rate was 42, by all accounts Vladimir Masters should be dead but he was still breathing.
Something was very wrong with this man and it wasn't the fact he had a demon after him. No, it was the fact he was half-dead. A real scregior's cat. She had heard legends from her grandmother and great uncle that certian people could becone stuck between life and death. Her instincts shrieked at her to run away and never look back at this freak of nature.
But something stopped her. It was the pain filled look of loneliness that made her hesitate. She knew that look, she saw it in her mirror when she looked into it late at night. In her own eyes.
So she sat down in the chair next to his bed. They sat in silence. Kim didn't have anything else to do. Dr. Xander made Vlad her sole responsibility.
She grabbed the remote to the tv. She flipped it on and surfed the channels. Vlad twitched, the first sign of life she saw from him. She was disappointed when he remained lifeless for the rest of the day.
She stood up.
"See you tomorrow." Kim smiled at him.
This is a line break.
Kim had dug up the dusty old journal of her grandmother. Kim's old childhood excited srcibbles were still written anywhere there was space. Back then she had thought being a Miko was what she was meant to do. funny how even now, no matter how much she ran and dendied it. The unseen world always found a way to drag her back. She flipped through the pages.
"Aha!" she tapped the page on warding.
"Purified salt, blessed water, white sage, blessed iron, runes for more powerful entities. These protections work best when the recipient believes in them. Yes this is what I need."
Kim had already gathered what she needed. The first order of business to get her patient well again was to stop the demon from getting into the hospital. To do that she needed to talk with Vlad. She packed the items away in her bag and readied herself for work. She headed straight for Vlad's room after clocking in. Vlad as per usual was staring at the wall. Kim sat down in the chair next to his bed.
"Look it's been two months since I was assigned to you. You're never going to get better with that thing feeding off you."
Vlad's head snapped in her direction.
It was unsettling to see him move so fast, when she was used to his utter stillness.
"You were there when I was first brought in." Vlad's voice was a rasp. Like his throat was trying to remember how to speak after disuse.
"You could see him too."
Kim shook her head.
"I could feel him, and faintly hear him. But I couldn't see him."
Vlad shuttered.
"Be grateful you couldn't."
Kim shook her head ruefully.
"That bad huh?"
"Horrible." Vlad muttered.
Kim reached for his hand. He jerked it away like he'd been burnt. Vlad looked away and down at his hands.
"Sorry it's been a long time since anyone human touched me."
"I think can help you keep that thing away from you. My grandmother was a hunter of the things that go bump in the night. I think that you're being haunted by a demon." Kim temples her fingers and leaned back in her chair.
Vlad blinked.
"A demon? How do you know it's a demon?"
"It's too powerful to be anything else, it's an ecto demon. Which are the worse, they don't need a body to possess to enter our world." Kim explained.
"But the good news is that I can ward it off from you. I know it must be personal but can you tell me about your accident? When the demon started haunting you?" Kim pressed.
Vlad shifted uncomfortably.
"I suppose I could tell you. It's a long story."
Kim laughed.
"Believe me, we have nothing but time."
Vlad took a deep breath.
"Alright, well it all started with," Vlad clenched his fists and hissed out a name.
"Jack Fenton."
Kim gaped at Vlad.
"Jack Fenton as in the son of the famous Frank Fenton. The famous ghost hunter?" Kim knew of Jack Fenton, He was an outcast of the hunter communities for daring to look for ways besides the old and trusted ways to get rid of ghosts. unlike other hunters the Fenton family delt exclusively with ghosts only.
Vlad nodded.
"The very same, we met when we were children. My parents mansion was haunted and Mr. Fenton came highly recommend. My parents wanted someone discreet. Jack and his father got rid of the ghost and we became best friends. I admired Mr. Fenton and the study of the paranormal fascinated me."
Vlad sighed.
"Jack and I both went to Wisconsin university. It's the only college in the country that offered a paranormal studies degree. Jack and I were going to experiment with making a portal to the 'ghost zone'. As Jack used to call it."
Kim was listening intently.
"The portal device was going to be our thesis project for graduation. But we kept have trouble finding a power source. Our professor recommend asking some of the other majors for help." Vlad stares dreamily at the wall.
"That was when we met the brilliant Maddie Williams. She was skeptical at first, but after a night ghost hunting with us. She changed her mind. Together we set forward with our project."
Vlad explained, he coughed. Kim handed him a a cup of water. Vlad gulped it down gratefully.
"It came time to test our project, I was completing some last minute adjustments on the machine. I was checking on the inside of the portal. I didn't have time to run when the core overheated."
Kim put her hands to her mouth in horror.
'My god they had opened the first death gate in two hundred years and Vlad had been the human sacrifice to fuel it.' she shook her head and shuddered at the thought.
Vlad shivered.
"I could feel my heart stop and the portal flared to life. I was caught in between the world of the living and the world of the dead. And then I saw him. It was not a man. He had curved horns on his head. Glowing orange eyes and black flames for hair. His skin was a pale gray."
Kim gasped.
"He was chained up and his mouth sewn shut. He started ripping the metal string from his mouth. Ectoplasm was surrounding me. I ran for the closing portal but the creature had broken free and it followed me through." Vlad looked so tired and guilty as he spoke the words.
"My friends and professor were amazed and happy I was alright. But I wasn't, I was being poisoned by the ectoplasm. I was tormented by the demon. I collapsed in a class and woke up in the hospital with the demon."
Kim gripped his hand.
"He said we were bonded. I was his and that together we would wreak havoc." Vlad shivered.
"You're not his. I will do everything I can to help you." Kim promised.
Vlad let out a sigh of relief.
"Thank you."
Kim stood up and busied herself to putting up the warding stuff she brought.
"Okay, done. Now next order of business." Kim clapped her hands as she finished.
"What?" Vlad asked.
"You need to eat. See you in a few, hope you're hungry." Kim left the room and came back up with a cart of food.
"Here you go. Dig in."
Vlad sighed.
"Fine."
This is a line break.
Vlad had greatly improved.
Dr. Xander was pleased with the sudden progress. Kim liked her new promotion to assistant to Dr. Xander.
Kim had fallen into a comfortable routine with Vlad over the next two months. They ate lunch together, talked about books, and it was so nice to talk with someone about the unseen world. Someone who didn't think she was crazy. But their time was coming to a close. Dr. Xander had declared yesterday that Vlad was ready to leave. He was to be checked out of the hospital.
Kim liked Vlad a lot, he was charming, funny, and he listened to her. She didn't want to lose him. The young woman stopped at Vlad's door.
She knocked and waited for an answer.
"Come in."
She opened the door and blinked in shock at Vlad. He looked almost normal. His silver white hair, and washed out skin were both covered in color. His hair was a shiny black, his skin a healthy pink.
"Wow Vlad, I barely recognized you."
Vlad smiled wryly.
"That's the point, I don't want to get mobbed by reporters. Someone on the staff leaked the story. 'Young man finally recovered from horrible lab accident.' If my parents weren't rich no one would care."
"I would care." Kim blurts out before she could think about it. God it was embarrassing. He was her patient, she shouldn't be acting like a little girl with a crush.
Vlad smiled at her.
"So what are your plans?" Kim coughed and cleared her throat.
Vlad's smile fell.
"My father wants me to go back to school and get a real degree. My mother wants me to start dating eligible heiresses."
Kim's chest tightened. She didn't want Vlad to go off and date pretty, rich women.
"Hey if you don't want to move back in with your parents. You could take up the second bedroom in my apartment. I need a roommate. Plus I've already warded the place." she found herself offering. Vlad blinked at her.
"Really, you would let me live in your home? Even though you know I have a demon after me?" his voice cracked.
Kim grinned.
"I've stuck with you this far haven't I? Besides what are friends for? Come live with me."
Vlad swept her up in a hug.
"Thank you." He whispered into her ear.
This is a line break.
They drove to Vlad's storage unit. His parents had hired someone to pack up his things and store them. It didn't take long to make trips to unload the storage unit. They unpacked the boxes. Vlad put up his horde of Packer football merchandise up in her apartment.
"You have literally covered my house in the stuff Vlad. I understand you love the Packers but pick four things to keep up and put the rest away in your room." Kim laughed, her eyes crinkling.
Vlad blushed.
"I love the green bay packers, but four things is a compromise."
Kim shook her head fondly.
They settled into living together easily.
A few disagreements over leaving the microwave door open, or dishes. Vlad had gotten a job at a bookstore. They had celebrated by cracking open a bottle of red wine. It was on their fourth glass as they made fun of a horror film, that Kim leaned over and kissed Vlad and they woke up the next morning in her bed. Kim's heart had fluttered when Vlad rolled over and called her my love. She had never been happier.
She should have known it wouldn't last.
This is a line break.
Kim came home to their living room torn up. A drunk Vlad, Vlad looked liked he hadn't showered or slept in two days. He lit photographs on fire in the metal trash can.
Her eyes darted to the coffee table.
A baby announcement for a Jasmine Rachel Fenton. A picture of Jack, Maddie and the baby all happily smiling in the photo.
Kim sprang into action.
She grabbed the fire extinguisher and sprayed the fire. It died with a pathetic sputtered. Vlad's face was unadorned by his cover up. His skin a translucent pale once again.
"They married." Vlad's voice was flat.
"My best friends married and didn't invite me to the wedding."
Kim slowly walked over to him.
"Vlad." she said softly.
"He knew how I feel about her. He knew!" Vlad growled.
"I wasted away for years in that wretched hospital! Not once did they visit me! It was Jack's fault, he was the one who went with the cheaper copper wiring. I offered to pay. He was the one who sent me to do the check!"
The air grew hot and the hair on the back of Kim's neck rose. Her heart skipped a beat when she looked into Vlad's glowing red eyes.
She took a deep breath and gently placed a hand on the raging man's arm.
"I'm so sorry Vlad." Her words drained the fury out of him. She wrapped her as around him and he slumped into her embrace.
His shoulders shook with silent sobs.
It was as if Vlad had relapsed.
He wouldn't eat, he couldn't sleep.
Kim was helpless to watch.
But she wasn't ready to give up.
This is a line break.
Vladimir Masters was at the end of his rope. All he could think about was his friends. His beloved Maddie had married that oaf. It tormented him, it bothered him more than it should. He was restless as he wandering the moonlit park. Something was calling him out. It was an itch he could no longer ignore. He was too tired to fight anymore. He hadn't told Kim his ecto poisoning had flared back up. It was slowing killing him.
'Vladimir.' A voice cooed.
Vlad froze.
Hot breath hit the back of his neck. He slowly turned around. The demon was a shade in the moonlight but just as frightening in his nightmares.
"What do you want?" Vlad asked, his voice dull and flat. He was done with this, all of this. Why couldn't the demon just kill him and get it over with?
"Kill . . . you? I don't . . . want to kill you." the demon's voice was raspy from disuse. His lips were unstitched now. But the holes above and beneath his lips were still there.
"I want to help you."
Vlad furrowed his brow and his temper sparked.
"Yes, because you have been so helpful tormenting and feeding off me." He snapped.
The demon's lips pulled back into an unsettling smile.
"My dear Vladimir, my feeding on you is what has kept you alive, feeding on the ectoplasm poisoning you. You see, to make a portal into lands of the underneath, the infinite realms, or what did your little fat friend call it?" the demon grinned at Vlad's clenched fists and tapped his chin in mock thought.
"The Ghost Zone. You have to sacrifice a life. But sometimes the sacrifice doesn't completely die. You see . . . in your case. You only gave half of your live. Your fat friend's portal didn't work right so now you are in danger of dying completely."
Vlad paled even further. He didn't want to die. He was twenty four years old. He had his whole life ahead of him. The demon circled around him, floating like a mist.
"I can help you, I can save you." He purred.
"How?" Vlad asked trying to hide just how desperate he was. The Demon grinned, he could taste his victory.
"It's simple, I drink your blood and you drink mine. You will have power beyond your greatest imagination. Slip between life and death. In way we become like family." The demon whispered into Vlad's ear. He didn't mention how much it would change the young man. He didn't mention how it would enthrall the boy to him. A little piece of him would always be inside the boy.
But Salem was good at sensing when people were at their lowest. He had been so patience waiting to find just the right time. But that letter had washed away all of the woman's hard work. She had lost.
Vlad was his now.
He could see it in the young man's eyes.
Vlad licked his dry lips.
"What do I have to do?"
Salem lunged for Vlad, Vlad stumbled back in alarm. The demon yanked back his hair and bared his neck. Salem had always been compared to Vampires. His sharp teeth sunk into Vlad's neck and swallowed the blood.
His fingers gripped his forehead.
He was shoving compulsions into the young vulnerable man. Revenge, power, wealth, and violence.
Salem's teeth pulled back from Vlad's neck.
"Together my dear Vladimir. Together, we will rule the lands underneath. I will take back my rightful throne from my father." Salem's sharp nail cut over his wrist and he forced the boy to drink his blood or what passed for blood in an ecto demon. Vlad's body convulsed and two black rings formed around his middle spreading out. Salem smirked at the new appearance of his new tool.
Vlad's skin was a pale blue, his ears pointed. His blood red eyes were glazed over, his teeth were sharp. His hair was a dark raven black. He still was much to human. If only he had broken Vlad sooner. Then he could have taken more of his blood. Salem snorted in derision at Vlad's clothes. A lab coat, t-shirt and pants. They would not do for a member of the Dark house, his house.
He snapped his fingers and Vlad's clothes transformed into a white suit and cape with black gloves and boots.
"Prince Salem Dark." A deep voice boomed.
Salem rolled his eyes at the Fright Knight. His father's bothersome second in command. His old babysitter. He had wanted a little more time with his new creation but at least his weapon would be free to wreak havoc in both realms now. One day soon his thrall would be compelled to find him at his lowest point and then Salem would train him. Then together Salem and Vladimir would rule. The Fright Knight stared at the demon made Halfa. Who collapsed and fell unconscious, back into his human form.
"What abomination have you created? Halfas have been outlawed for centuries." The Knight looked at Salem with disgust.
Salem cackled.
"I have broken no laws, this human was sacrificed to try and make a death gate. I claimed him as my heir, as with in my right."
The Fright Knight shook his head.
"You have cursed him to walk between life and death forever. It is a cruel thing you have forced upon him."
"Which is why both of them should be destroyed!" Baba Yellowlegs screeched, phasing out from under the ground. The witch spirit's chain snaked around Salem.
Salem sneered.
"So they send out the chicken legs hag. I'm insulted. Clockwork couldn't come himself."
"The ancients have more important matter than dealing with Pariah Dark's bratty son." Baba sneered back.
Salem gritted his teeth.
"The prophecy will be fulfilled. Six Halfas will fight on my side. You can't caged me forever. The time of King Salem Dark will rise. My bloodline will rule."
Baba wickedly grinned.
"Not if I eat your new Halfa heir."
"No!" The Fright Knight said firmly.
Both the witch and demon stopped fighting.
"We can't let him live, we must kill him." Baba hissed. The Fright Knight drew his sword and stepped in front of Vlad.
"No, it is dishonorable. This boy has done no wrong. You will not touch him."
Baba Yellowlegs growled.
"Then you will be the one to explain why to the council."
"I shall then." The Fright Knight whistled and his purple flames and black steed flew towards them. Salem looked far to pleased with himself, even as Baba trapped him in chains. Baba scowled as she opened a portal and the three powerful being left.
"Goodbye my dear Vladimir." Salem laughed.
The three beings disappeared into the portal and left the young man unconscious on the cement.
This is a line break.
Vlad had changed. Kim didn't like it.
He was becoming obsessed with Jack Fenton and his family. It wasn't just that, Vlad's personality had changed. He was colder and while he had always had the feeling of death hidden below. Now it was boiling just below the surface. The change had began when at five am she had gotten a call from the hospital. Vlad had been found bleeding in the nearby park. His neck had been mangled and everything about him screamed at Kim to run.
Vlad was disappearing for days on end.
He came back beaten, bruised and bloody. He was keeping secrets from her.
Their relationship was falling apart and yet Kim still loved him. She wanted to marry him, she wanted to make him happy. But the secrets were becoming so hard to take. So Kim had prepared a romantic night for herself and Vlad.
But the last straw had broken.
Vlad had called her Madeleine. He had called her another woman's name in their bed.
Kim shoved Vlad off her.
Vlad looked hurt.
"You just called me Madeleine." Kim's voice shook from the effort of not crying.
Vlad swallowed.
"It was an accident, it just slipped out. You know I love you Kimiko." He pleaded.
Kim shook her head.
"Do you think I'm stupid? You think I haven't noticed how fixated you've become on Jack and Maddie Fenton? You think I don't notice how you've changed? I can sense it."
Vlad looked uneasy.
"I thought I could help you Vlad. I thought you loved me. But I was wrong. We're done, I'm done." Kim turned her back to him so he wouldn't see her tears.
"I love you." He tells her quietly.
Kim whipped around.
"Stop lying! You can't love me when all you think about is her! I hear you moaning her name in your sleep. I have to fight for your attention. Well I'm done. You want to chase after a married woman, than do it."
Vlad clenched his fists.
"Stop." He says through gritted teeth.
His eyes flashed an eerie glowing blood red.
Kim took a step back.
Vlad felt like the demon.
The ecto demon had claimed him.
Two black rings formed around his middle.
And the man she loved transformed into a monster. How could she have been so stupid? How could she have missed the signs? But she knew why. Her love for Vlad had blinded her.
Vlad was a Halfa. The first in over hundreds years. Vlad lunged at her, trapping her against the wall.
"You can't leave me, you're mine. You're the only thing keeping me from going insane." He was stroking her face.
Kum punched him and dove for her bedside table. She pulled out her book.
"We're done Vlad. I'm sorry, I love you but I can't live like this."
She began to chant.
Vlad was flickering, his ghostly half being warded against. His red eyes looked at her with hurt, anger and longing.
She finished the chant and Vlad had disappeared into the floor. Kim packed up her things and bolted. And that was that, she was in a new city. Now she was pregnant and the baby was Vlad's.
She rubbed her temples.
Would her child be born dead? Would it be half dead too? Would the demon try and claim her child? Should she just get rid of it?
She wanted to drink and forget about it. But now she couldn't even do that.
This is a line break.
Vlad sat in his new office. He was quite proud of it. He finally worked up the nerve to overshadow his boss into giving him a promotion. He couldn't believe he was so afraid of doing it. He had power and he was going to use it. He fingered his red bow tie. Admiring his new suit. He looked important, powerful. No one would ever lord over Vladimir Masters again. Not the demon, not any ghost, not even . . . Ki- no he wouldn't even think her name. She didn't matter anymore. Yes, he was finally getting the hang of the dreadful ghost powers. How could he have been so afraid of them? He had complete control over them now. Now he could start his money schemes. Collect his power slowly.
Yes, Vlad thought to himself. Things were finally going his way for once.
He templed his fingers and sat back in his comfortable chair and smirked. He had learned all he needed from the ecto demon.
Vlad was finished with him.
The demon was locked away in his prison, no longer would he bother Vlad.
A knock shook him out of his inner thoughts.
"Mr. Masters?" Came the timid voice of his secretary.
"Yes?" Vlad answered back.
"That strange little company Fenton works you were looking into. They just opened up their stocks. Were you still interested in it?" The secretary asks.
Vlad sits back smugly in his chair.
Jack Fenton wouldn't know what hit him.
He would save Maddie from that Buffoon and Maddie would love him. She wouldn't leave him like she did. Maddie was the true love of his life.
"Yes, thank you Miss Merry I am still interested in becoming a shareholder. Please see to it that it's taken care of." Vlad waved a dismissive hand. Miss Merry closed the door behind her.
He smirked.
"Yes, everything is going my way." he declared as he stood to stare at the setting sun out of his large office suite window.
This is a line break.
"Her name is Suzume Mori." Kim gently stroked her newborn's cheek.
"Ma'am who are you going to put down as the father?" The nurse stared at Kim disapprovingly. Stuffy old hag. But Kim didn't really care as she stared down at her beautiful new baby girl.
Her little Sue.
"Her father's name is Vladimir Daniel Masters." Kim smiled softly at her baby.
"I see." The nurse says in a disbelieving tone.
Vlad had become so successful, it was almost supernatural how fast he gained money. No doubt he used his powers to do it. Kim snorted. Kim was very happy to leave the hospital. The first week home was tough, Her own parents had disowned her for having a child out of wedlock. She had to pay a lot for a sitter. They had gone through at least twenty in the past four months. They all were claiming either that the apartment was haunted or that her baby was. Lights flickering, things moving, Sue laughing or crying at thing that weren't there.
Sue giggled as she fell through her bed to the ground or turned invisible.
It was with great desperation that Kim had dug into her old tome and found a seal.
She stood over her daughter's crib.
Kim bit her lower lip. Sue giggled as her mother inked the seal on her stomach. Kim looked haggard from restless nights.
She smiled a watery smile at her daughter and focused her energy into the ink.
The ink glowed and disappeared into her daughter's skin.
"This should kept any powers from bubbling up." Kim sighed and rubbed at her temples.
