"Smile." He pleads with a vague hint of hope in his eyes. For once he just wants to see her smile without breaking.
"What's there to smile about?" Dawn asks, the question aching through her bones. he knows shes right. What is there to smile about. No one loves her. No one loves him. Oh but he loves her. Adores every inch of her untouched skin. Wants to make her his, so know one else can hurt her. No one else can love her. Not the way he wants to. Shes his everything, his rock, his angel. But she can never know, because hes just a demon.
"Pet, you don't always have to be so sad." Spike says with a frown. "I mean, people care about you. People love you." The blonds eyes gloss over with pain. I love you. He wants to tell her. Knows he can't.
"No they don't Spike." Dawns voice begins to shake. "I think your the only who has ever cared." Now the pain is so obvoius it would be impossible not to hurt just looking at her. "But you don't love me." The tears did not fall. She held them in...for now.
Spike cant anwer, so he doesn't. "Pet?" He askes tilting his head to one side, a look in his eyes that she knows. Suddenly hes on top of her tickling her, Dawn tries to push him of but shes filled with laughter.
So for now, he doesn't answer. Maybe someday he will. For her. Because he loves her. And she loves him, needs him. But for now he'll settle for a smile.
