A/N: Just a drabble that kind of digs into Snow's emotions at this part. Now, mind you, I only just bought the game and am only just past this part so if there are any inaccuracies I apologize. Yup, just started the game and already completely in love with Snow!
Snow stood silently, watching carefully out of the corner of his eye to make sure the kid caught up with the others. Once he was alone he bent down to pick up the scrap of machinery he'd been using to dig, sighing as he wrapped his fingers around it. He said a quick prayer under his breath as he started slashing away again, praying that everyone would be safe and that they would meet up again.
Maybe those fireworks can still work their magic…
The jarring movements were making his hands burn but he kept at it. Over and over again, watching as he barely even scratched the surface of the crystal. But he didn't slow down, if anything he began to speed up, almost manically scraping…all the while whispering.
"Almost there….almost. Just hold on Serah, okay? You'll be out soon, I promise."
He winced as his hand brushed up against hers, it was so cold… It wasn't right. She was warmth, warmth and comfort and life. This…this was wrong. He paused, leaning down to lay his forehead against hers, the chill from the crystal seeming to leech into him. A soft clang as his necklace brushed against hers where it was trapped, he reached out to grasp the metal, fingers clenching tight. A lone tear escaped his eye, trailing down his face onto hers in a mimicry of life.
"I…I promised I would always be there, and I will be. I'm not leaving you Serah, never. I will find a way to free you, to make you warm again… This isn't the end!"
And with that, he began digging anew, dogged determination on his face.
