----Stravaganza : City of Faith----
----Chapter one.
Hi, I am Flavio di Furtia, I'm not unappealing, smart, eighteen, chemist, biologist, doctor and historian. Quite a list. My life seems perfect. Except one detail. I'm a monk. Yes, I'm a monk at sixteen years old. Which means that I never had a girlfriend. So that's out.
Oh yeah, I'm also a stravagante. I nearly forgot.
Can you believe it? I nearly forgot the thing that nearly ruined my life. Fortunately it ruined my career in the Church. Got a single clue were I'm talking about? No? Well, I didn't expect it anyway. But I like it when persons do understand what I'm saying. So, I'll tell you. Sit down and listen.
----The One who nearly ruined my life.
It all started two years ago when I broth a little book to the other world. Oh, God, what did I hate the place. To much traffic and people. No I was rather in the di Furtia residence garden or in the garden of the monastery. Good, when I came back after dropping the thing some ones house. I decided to wait. Now you have to know that in this monastery I'm the only one who is there in the morning because the others leave for the fields early. I work in the scriptorium. I write books. Alone. Get the picture? Okay, so like every morning I was sleeping until let's say nine o'clock. And when I woke up, I noticed that I wasn't alone in the bed. I felt the back of a person against my back. Okay, now there were two possibilities: a novice or a girl. But I didn't have a single clue how a novice or a girl could have entered my room without me notice it. And the door was locked. I was a bit frightened but I turned my back. I think I wasn't the only one in the room who was awake in the bed because she or he, I didn't know yet, did exactly the same movement. Then we lay on our back, looking at each other. I looked in some of the most beautiful green eyes I've ever seen. But instead of making out like in stupid plays, we yelled and… and fell out of the bed.
"Who are you?" we yelled simultaneously, while getting on our feet again.
"Flavio di Furtia", I said slowly," and who are you for God's sake?"
"Jana McKenzie," she said a bit scared, but I could still hear that the voice was one of the most beautiful I ever heard, "not exactly nice to meet you."
"Indeed, it isn't exactly nice to meet you either."
"What is this place?" she asked. I was glad she changed subject.
"This is the monastery were I live."
"You live here?" she raised an eyebrow.
"No need to do that", I said," I'm a monk."
Indeed her eyebrow went down again, but her eyebrow wasn't the only thing went down her entire face went down, actually she bowed more. Before you start thinking things: didn't do it as sign of respect but… how to formulate this? Okay she was laughing. She was laughing extremely hard. That was the first time I wished she would choke in it.
