Imagine living in a world without your parents. A world with no discipline of safety.
EARTH 2018
HARRIS COUNTY GEORGIA
It started of like a simple cold and then less than a month later everyone above 16 is dead. I am 15 years old. About a month ago I came home with my two sisters to find my parents sitting together crying on our couch looking at the TV. I looked up at the TV, my mouth dropped in shock. Over the next three weeks my family and I worked to help us prepare. We first contacted all our friends and grouped together all our supplies. In that time we had managed to gather 2 ambulances from my mom's work, 3 pickup trucks with 3 trailers, 2 mini vans, and a school bus, 50 kids, and enough food to last a couple of months.
The first thing we did after gathering supplies was training. Our parents taught us how to shoot, drive, plant food, first aid, and many other essential things that will help us in the new world. When we got pretty good at these tasks we decided to vote in a leader. I was very surprised to be elected as our leader. We also decided to travel to the Rocky Mountains to a valley where my dad and I used to go fishing before we moved to Georgia. It was a perfect place because it was secluded and had a few farms and rivers full of fish.
All of our parents decided they were going to leave us so we didn't have to watch them die but before they left they went down to Fort Benning, a military installation about thirty minutes away from my house, it turns out they were handing out supplies they decided since they didn't need it they would hand it out. My parents manages to get a lot of food, water, and camping supplies. After our parents got back we had one last fun but sad evening together. Our parents had decided to leave the next morning they had already started showing symptoms of the disease. The next morning we woke up silent are parents had already left.
