A/N: I've been considering writing something like this for a while but the Van Gogh episode inspired me to actually do this. It was supposed to be a 100 word drabble but it ended up being a tad bit longer. Could never keep to my word limits :D
You need to have seen the Tom Baker serial 'City of Death' to understand this fic otherwise it will make no sense whatsoever.
Disclaimer: I don't own Doctor Who and gain no profit from this, I just like to write little stories for my own amusement.
Fake
"Wow," Amy gasped as she gazed at the portrait of the Mona Lisa. "It's smaller than I imagined."
"It's a fake," The Doctor told her.
"What?" Amy exclaimed, not believing him for a second.
"It's a fake," he repeated, his face deadly serious.
"It's not a fake, how can it be?"
"Okay, so technically it's not a fake since it was painted by Da Vinci but it's not the original. The original was destroyed years ago. In fact, if you were to X-Ray it, it would have 'this is a fake' painted underneath."
"How do you know?"
"Because," The Doctor said, "I'm the one who wrote it," he told her with a wry smile before walking off.
