Shades of Red
Serena's lips were always painted bright red, bold and wild just like the statuesque blond. She was a shooting star bursting across the night sky in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, a youthful filly bucking on long legs, and Dan was the only one who ever tamed her.
Vanessa, quirky, unique Vanessa, she was in love with orange-red. The lipstick had never been applied quite right, but it suited the exotic beauty just fine; she'd never really drawn inside the lines in the first place, and God help him, Dan fell hard for her idiosyncrasies.
Blair had preferred to stain her lips deep crimson, akin to the dark air of mystery that perpetually surrounded her. Her pouty lips were always sealed shut, for fear of spilling her deepest, darkest secrets, and it wasn't until Dan found her in the bathroom that Blair finally opened up to him.
Glancing admiringly at his gorgeous wife applying her lipstick beside him in the limo, Dan knew he made the right choice.
"You know I love you, right?" he asked, wrapping an arm around his wife's narrow shoulders.
Looking at Dan, Blair's glossy dark lips curved into a wide smile. "Of course. And I love you, too."
Crimson.
It was Dan's favorite shade of red.
