Thank you, your majesties. Thank you to the Nobel committee. We are deeply honored. I would just like to take this moment to say to all the young girls out there who dream about science as a profession: go for it! It is the greatest job in the world, and if anybody tells you you can't, don't listen.
Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler, Nobel Laureate in Physics.
The day after their return from Sweden Sheldon and Amy returned to Caltech. Now their Nobel Prizes had been awarded they hoped that things would return to normal. However, within an hour of their return they were both "invited" to see President Siebert.
Amy "President Siebert, Mrs Davis. How can we help you."
Siebert "There you are, my quirky scientific superstars."
Sheldon "Why are we here and why is Mrs Davis here. Surely Human Resources can't have disapproved of our winning the Nobel Prize together?"
Davis "Welcome home and congratulations again, what do you plan to do next?"
Sheldon "Amy helped us win the Nobel Prize in Physics. I think that I will help her with some of her brain work so we can win the Nobel Prize in Medicine or Physiology. We would like to get back to work."
Siebert "Could you please tell them Mrs Davis."
Davis "Dr. Cooper, Dr. Fowler. In recognition of your fantastic achievement together Caltech would like to promote the two of you to full Research Professors. If you don't want to teach or supervise students that would be fine by us. You would both get your salaries doubled if you accept these promotions."
Amy "Well that sounds very generous but"
Sheldon "what's the catch?"
Siebert "You two are hot stuff at the moment, Caltech would like to use Professor Fowler and Professor Cooper for publicity to help improve the reputation of Caltech and help with fundraising."
Sheldon "Just what we thought that you would do, we were discussing this on the plane back from Sweden. Tell him Professor Fowler."
Amy "I certainly will Professor Cooper. We have decided to take half our of Nobel Prize money, half a million dollars, to start the 'Fowler-Cooper science foundation'. This foundation is to encourage girls to get into science so they can do 'the greatest job in the world'. The foundation will provide scholarships for female students at Caltech."
Sheldon took out his phone "I am about to email the two of you a draft contract for our foundation. If we agree to help Caltech then 50% of the fundraising we are involved in will go to the foundation."
Amy "All the fees that we get for guest lectures will go to the foundation."
Sheldon "I suggest that you get your lawyers to look at the contract and get back to us. Care for a cup of tea Professor Fowler?"
Amy "An excellent idea Professor Cooper. Good day to you both."
