What
was the significance behind that stupid coin?

"Man shall not lie with man as man lies with woman," Balthazar quoted as he tailed his favourite human out of a club.
"Yeah, yeah," John replied, playing with his coin as he tried his best to not smash his fist into the demon's face. "And man shall not eat shellfish. God don't sweat the small shit... 'Bub."
The dark-haired demon scowled, annoyed by the fact that that stupid trinket had more of the human's attention than he, a powerful demon did. It was somehow messed up in his mind.
"What is it with you and that stupid coin?"
"If I told you that I'd have to banish you to Hell."
Balthazar whined and tugged on John's arm playfully. "Tell me or I'll whine all night! You know I don't need to sleep!"
"The Father at my Church gave it to me after I died to ward off evil spirits." He gave the demon a side-long glance. "Clearly, it's not working."
