Hi everyone! Wow, it's been so long since I've written anything. I'm sorry Dreams hadn't been updated in the longest time. I'm hoping to have some time over Thanksgiving break. Anyway, this is just another one-shot, Damon/Elena of course! I was listening to I Was Wrong by Sleeperstar on the way home from school today, and I was in a writing mood, and this was produced! Please review! Hope everyone enjoys it!

Happy Thanksgiving! Who's looking forward to some turkey? I am!

Alex

PS. Be sure to check out my other one-shots, I Love You and Snow Days. Plus my multi-chapter, Dreams, which will be updated very soon!

Damon stood outside Elena's window, watching her slowly fall asleep. He saw her futilely try to stay conscious.

'Go to sleep.' He thought.

He saw her give herself over to sleep, the book she was reading fall against her face. The pages stuck to her beautiful face. She had been crying earlier. It had taken every ounce of self-control he had to not go and comfort her until she stopped.

Damon knew what he had done. His attempt at compulsion had failed. Even though she didn't have her necklace, she had vervain in some other form. She knew that he loved her. 'I love you' had made her cry.

'Good or bad?' was his constant thought.

Damon thought back to the night before. He and Stefan had rescued her from Rose and Elijah. Damon won't ever forget the hope in his heart when he saw Elena run down the stairs, hoping that she was running to him. He would also remember the crushing disappointment when she ran into his brothers arms. They had both fallen apart. His heart was still just as crushed and she was falling into his brother's arms.

It felt like everything he loved was gone. He was living an unrequited existence. There was no point to it anymore. It felt like everything was dead, all packed in boxes.

Damon brought himself back to the present. He knew what he had done. He knew what needed to be done. She needed to live her life, that way she wanted it to be. He saw in his minds eye, all the things he had done to her, weather he was saving her or torturing her.

His self control snapped and he flew into the window. He made his way slowly over to her bed. He ghosted his fingers over her cheek.

I was wrong.

I was wrong.

I was wrong.

I was wrong.

And I'm sorry.

Before Damon, could run from her room, Elena smiled in her sleep. "Damon." She whispered.

That one whisper gave Damon back the hope that his heart had misplaced.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Please review on your way out!
