I guess I should put a disclaimer that I don't own anything. Everything belong to Joss.

Xander paced up and down the sidewalk. He hated this waiting. Why wasn't Spike out already? He'd said that it would be a quick poker game and to pick him up at eight.

"By then, I'll probably be waiting outside for you." Or so he had said.

It was almost 8:55. If Spike didn't come out and five minutes, he was going in after him. They had already put so much on the line; he wasn't going to risk losing Spike in a bar room brawl.

His watch beeped that it was 9:00. With a huff of resignation, Xander went to his car, grabbed his back up stake, he already had one in his back pocket, and a small dagger. As he walked up the sidewalk toward the gaming den, he heard yelling inside. He started running.

Bursting through the doors he saw Spike, surrounded on three sides and up against a wall. He had a pair of keys and wad of cash in one hand and a stake in the other. Unfortunately for him, the demons surrounding him were invincible to wood- Vekeskar Demons. They also had the giant stature and two sets of arms thing going for them too.

"Shit," Xander whispered.

The three demons looked at the newly arrived mortal. Spike quickly put his winning in his pocket and knocked down the nearest demon closest to him, which toppled the other two with his flailing arms.

"Pet, let's get out of here. I just won myself a motorcycle and you have your car right?" Xander nodded. "Follow me in it. I finally have enough money to help you and I'm selling this beauty right away."

Xander ran to his car and put it in gear. He waited until Spike was ahead of him and took off.

Maybe their plan would work.

Author's note: I never realized how hard publishing your own work is. Yes this is my first fic, or at least my first one that I have the courage to upload. I have been a lurker for such a long time and I really wanted to contribute to this community. So I have a basic idea of where I want to go with this. I admit it's probably been over done, but this is my testing the waters fic. I guess reviews would be nice but, whatever. I hate it when authors sound desperate and are all like "No more chapters until I get reviews!" And then I think, "Well, your story sucks and it makes me vomit, so no reviews!" But it'd be nice to know if I should continue or stick to privately beta-ing my friend's work. So... yeah.
