The world seemed hazy to her and before she knew she felt her eyes shut and her body loosen as if it was giving way to her soul to bid adieu. Was she dying? She thought so until she crashed onto something warm, comfortable and protective. Brownie points for it to smell amazing!

As she opened her eyes she saw a worried Cassie sitting besides her. She looked around to try and recognise her surroundings. It seemed like her bedroom. So was it all a bad dream?

Um..Cass...

Jake's been out I guess getting drunk at some bar with some sleazy bitches and Rainer just left half an hour back because he needed to shoot some patch scenes for Locked, If that's what you're gonna ask me. Though Rainer asked me to call him the minute you're up.

Okay so it was not "just" a bad dream but reality. Bingo!

"So who is it?" Cass asked rather matter of factly.

"Huh?" With that I snapped out of my already scattered thoughts.

"Rainer or Jake?"

"Cass! I wish it was that easy. I've known Jake since freshman year. We have shared so many beautiful memories, we're the three amigos, remember?"

"So it's Jake?"

"No. I never said that. With Rain it's different. He understands me and is there looking out for me. And I'm there for him. We have each other's back. I've seen him at one of his vulnerable worst and then I've seen him as Rainer Devon and trust me when I say this, the world might love Rainer Devon but it's Rain that connects with me."

"So, what's the issue?"

"I can't choose"

"It's not Jess or Logan for Rory that you can't choose! You know it's Rain don't you"

"But Jake?"

"You're just trying to live in the past though your present has changed. Jake is your past, maybe even present but he can't be your future because it's too late. Now it's Rainer. You're afraid that you're loosing your foot in the past and you want to retain any connection to the past even if it means bringing alive dead relationships."

"But Cass"

"But what? You love him and care for him but you aren't in love with him. Admit it. The sooner you do the better it is for everyone."
