I loved the season finale, and just came around to thinking, what if the Master after all had been telling the truth, and Gallifrey was exactly where she told the Doctor? So I came up with this, any italics are the doctor's thoughts. Hope it's not too short, let me know what you think.

The Doctor's Return Home

Having dropped Clara off at home after the near disaster with the Mistress, The Doctor strode back to his TARDIS with a look of sheer determination on his aged face. It is time to go home, the Doctor thought to himself as he set the old Gallifreyan coordinates, but this time, it will not be the long way round. He grinned like the madman that he was as he pulled down the lever.

As the TARDIS found her destination, the Doctor quickly ran to open the doors. Please don't let Missy have been lying, please don't let Missy have been lying, he prayed as the doors swung open wide. He took a deep breath as he peered out into the depths of space, only to find a beautiful, glowing orange planet, as if shouting out for him to come home. And for the first time since what felt like since he regenerated into this form, the Doctor found it very hard to hide his emotions. However, the Doctor bit them back as he set the TARDIS to land. He used this time, listening to the humming of the parking brakes to remember back.

I'm home. I'm really, truly home. Oh Rassilon, I'm glad Clara isn't here to see me like this. But I'm home. The beautiful orange skies, the children, the people, they're alive, they're home, they're safe. And I'm finally coming home. Romana, Susan, my wife, I'm coming for you. I promise you I will find you and never let you go again.

His memories of Gallifrey came swimming through his memory like a movie. His first time running away with his granddaughter, meeting the Valeyard, being punished by the Time Lord society leaving him a lasting friendship on earth with UNIT, the white guardian, and so many more memories. It was all coming back to him as his trip home finally came to fruition.

As the TARDIS finally landed, the Doctor took another deep breath. As his body physically shook in shock, he took his first steps towards the doors of the TARDIS. With one final breath, he gathered in the smells of his old, once gone home. As he opened the doors and took a step outside, it finally happened.

One year, one year holding back his emotions, not letting others in, not letting people see what he truly felt….And it all came down to this.

The Doctor swiftly fell to the ground surrounded by a river of tears. He had come home. The Doctor was back. Theta Sigma had returned to Gallifrey.
