Summary (Extended.):

So when watching Mako mermaids my brother and I would joke that Cam was an evil Merman from a thousand years ago. This is my telling of this tale. Cam was prince of Mako a thousand years ago, but for rebelling against his sister and creating the trident, he was exiled as a land boy. but its been a thousand years, what happens when he can finally become a merman again? what happens when Nixie finds out? Will Nixie tell the others or keep it a secret for Cam? CamXNixie

'Tonight' Cam thought 'Tonight things will be as they should be, as they should have been a long time ago.'

Cam was going to be a Merman again, his sentence would be over, he would rule Mako island as he was born to.

The full moon shone on the cave revealing the entrance. 'This is it, Mako is as good as mine!' Cam walked confidently on into the cave that had been hidden from him until very recently. Trident in hand Cam was ready to live as he once did a thousand years ago. reaching towards the trident symbol he wondered if it really did what Zac had said it did. He had never been here before the other day and even then it hadn't showed him to the moon pool. The mermaids that had concealed this entrance had been quite smart, he hadn't found it for over ten centuries but it wouldn't have mattered, he couldn't return to his born state untill tonight anyway; as was his punishment. the thousandth anniversary of his exile as a land boy.

Barely had he touched the trident when the floor began to feel as thin as water. within seconds he was falling towards the moon pool Trident in hand. The water was refreshing and he could feel the full moon on his face. The moon's power rushing through him triggered memories he had long since forgotten, playing with his mates, flirting with the eligible young ladies, and even some of the non-eligible ones. Oh how he missed his life, no matter how old he was he still felt like a young adult he wanted his life back... He wanted to be Prince Camulus again, not the ones the Celtics had dubbed as the God of war, he wanted to be the Prince Camulus that land ladies and mermaids alike swooned over, the Camulus who had more than one friend at a time, who wielded greater power than any else his age... but that life is no more, he knew that, that being a merman again was the closest he could get.

After the full moon had passed he had to get out of the water before the others got there. of course he would be long gone by then. Part of him wanted to destroy the moon pool -the place of his greatest defeat -, but knew that would cause too much suspicion. Not destroying the moon pool would be the perfect cover since the mermaids thought just having the trident in it destroyed it. No, the Merman had to wish it to happen and concentrate hard; he should know since he made the trident with this purpose. He wanted the traditional site destroyed but he had wanted his family to witness him destroy it of his own volition.

When we arrived at the moon pool Cam was no where to be found, and the moon pool was spotless, what you would expect of the moon pool on a full moon.

"Maybe he hasn't come yet." Serena suggested, a gleam in her eyes at the thought of a crisis averted. Sometimes I wished I could be as positive as Serena, not always jumping to the worst conclusion.

Everyone looked towards the roof, expecting a power hungry land boy to fall from nowhere, like last time. But our waiting was in vain, no such incident presented itself for a second time. Nixie lifted herself out of the moon pool and sat on the edge, getting sand over the upper half of her tail.

"Maybe he's not coming at all?" Nixie said clearly hoping we were all wrong, hoping Cam hadn't lied to her. "The moon pool is still intact, the full moon isn't even up there anymore. Maybe he just wanted the trident away, for when Zac came. Can we reserve judgement till we find him?" She asked.

'Ya right! that's a brilliant idea Nixie, I mean we all know that worked out well last time!' I thought, but then I thought about when Nixie hadn't trusted Zac, it was awful. I got so mad at her. I know Nixie likes -maybe even loves- Cam and she would get mad at me if I just immediately didn't trust him. Plus there was no evidence he did anything more then Nixie had when she helped him get the trident. I just didn't like him, but if I openly said this it would cause trouble.

"Of course." yeah right, I may not say it to his face, or even out loud but I trust Cam only as much as I can roller skate. "Once we find Cam we'll know a bit more, I'll reserve judgment until then."

Serena nodded in agreement. This whole situation was quite stressful so I was relieved to see Nixie - instead of crying - showing her appreciation through a faint smile. now all we have to do is find Cam.

Cam watched from a crack unnoticed by the mermaids that were now debating what they would do with the mischievous land boy. He decided it was time to leave before they found his boat. He was lucky that they slept here every night otherwise he might be in some big trouble. Cam's plan had begun and with the trident they couldn't stop him.

Edit (08/05/16): fixed some spelling errors (can't believe when I wrote this I couldn't spell 'boat'), added some plot I hadn't figured out back then and fixed some punctuation.
