Silence
Hiro has committed suicide. Or has he?
"La li-huh? Where's Hiro?" Shuichi was late, as usual. But for the first time, Hiro wasn't there.
"He hasn't showed up yet. We thought he was probably with you." Even the usually quiet Suguru was obviously unnerved.
"We don't have problems with him often." K-san spoke with an uncommon sense of concern
Sakano, on the other hand... "How can he be this late?! He always notifies someone if anything comes up!"
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Before anyone could answer, the door opened and Seguchi Touma entered the room with a grave expression.
"Minna-san, I have so very bad news for you. Come to my office immediately." And with that, he left.
"What could be so terrible?" Suguru knew the weight of his uncle's expression. This would have to be a disaster. "I haven't seen him like that since the last death in the family."
The room was instantly silent. Everyone was thoughtful, shocked by Suguru's observation. Could that mean that someone had died? Their minds raced to seek out people that weren't definitely accounted for. They all came to the same conclusion
Shuichi froze, a horrified expression frozen to his face. It couldn't be...
"We'd better go see what it is."
Moments later, they entered Touma's office. He was still wearing the sickeningly grave expression.
"I have a tape of a certain story from the news this morning. I think you should all watch it."
The television screen lit up. The image was of a tall bridge over a river. As the camera zoomed in, a splatter of bright red could be seen at the edge of the bridge. In the center of the splatter was a knife.
"Today, a young man killed himself." The broadcaster began. "The boy apparently stabbed himself, then threw himself into the river. Eyewitnesses report that the boy was the member of the hit band Bad Luck, Nakano Hiroshi.
The tape stopped and the screen was shut off. All eyes turned to Shuichi. He stood there for a moment, shaking. Then he raced from the room crying.
"It isn't true! He would never do that! It's all a lie! Hiro isn't dead! He isn't dead!!!!"
