A/N Based on a prompt for a lunch date with Ryuko and Mako

Ryuko couldn't help but smile.

At the way Mako's hands flew at inhuman speeds to move the pieces of sashimi from her plate to her lips.

At the way she began to speak, but remembered her manners and swallowed hard what must have been at least half of a tuna fish residing in her mouth.

"Ryuko! You have to try this tuna!"

Ryuko snapped from her day-dreaming to watch as Mako's eyes grew wide and sparkled as she gazed longingly towards the heavens, her tone that of a girl who had achieved enlightenment.

"This is the single most beautiful thing to ever touch my tongue...I-I mean aside from you of course-WAIT NO, I DIDN'T MEAN THAT; well i did but not in a pervy way, unless you thought of it in a pervy way, which is perfectly-"

"Mako."

The unexpected quiet in Ryuko's voice immediately silenced the coconut-headed girl.

"You are too sweet for your own good, you know that?"

Mako's cheeks began to take on a rosy tinge as she poured a bowl of rice in to her mouth like a liquid.

"Ryuko you've hardly touched your salmon!" Mako gasped, great concern evident in her voice.

"I feel more like some tuna." came a musing reply, Ryuko's voice low and somewhat sultry.

"But I ate all the tuna..."

Ryuko leaned across the table, a small smile tugging at the corners of her mouth as she pursed her lips for a kiss.

"Precisely."

Mako met her halfway, her small soft hands trailing across the table to entertine with Ryuko's own.

The bustling chatter of the restaurant seemed to die away as Ryuko absorbed herself in the softness of Mako's lips, opening her mouth slightly, a cue for her partner to do the same.

Leaning ever so slightly further in to the gentle kiss, Ryuko felt Mako inhale deeply.

There was a brief pause, then a rumbling as Ryuko's cheeks puffed out with air.

She pulled back in surprise as Mako buried her face in her hands.

The laughter that came seemed to come next was genuine and sweet, but trailed off as she saw Mako had not changed her position.

"Mako, what's wrong?"

"I can't believe I burped in your mouth!"

"And?"

"I burped in your mouth, Ryuko"

Ryuko leaned on an elbow, grinning cheerfully at Mako,

"I don't mind at all, it was pretty funny though."

"It wasn't funny, It was really embarrassing like that time you-"

Mako had been told to stop talking in many different ways throughout her life. Some people got angry, some people were mean, some just ignored her entirely; but as Ryuko's lips once again touched her own, she was positive this was the best silencing she could have ever hoped for.
