The Confession

Chapter 1

Laying in his bed, Naruto stared up at the ceiling. Would today be the day that he finally got up the nerve to confessing his feelings? Naruto didn't know, he just knew that he couldn't keep going on the way he was watching Sasuke date girls, who clearly didn't mean much because Sasuke usually dumped them after a short time. Would Sasuke take well to Naruto's confession? Naruto knew his best friend could be a moody bastard when he wanted to be which was more often then not. But since Naruto had grown up with both of the Uchiha orphans he was used to Sasuke's holier than thou attitude, actually it was that attitude and determination that attracted Naruto to Sasuke to begin with.

"Naruto? Are you up?" Naruto heard his step father Arashi call through the door.

"I'm awake, I'm not exactly up." Naruto called back turning his head towards his door. His father Minato had died shortly after Naruto's birth, and a few years later his mother Kushina Uzumaki had married Arashi. Naruto didn't like him, but he wasn't going to tell his mother that her husband was the biggest homophobic person in all of Konoha. Of course, Naruto wasn't exactly planning on telling her he was gay either, unless of course Sasuke reacted favorably to what Naruto had to tell him. Even then it was iffy if he would actually ever come out to his parents. It was sad that parents couldn't support their children in whom they chose to love whether they were the same sex or opposite sex.

"Get up. You don't want to be late for school." Arashi called through the door.

"I won't." Naruto called and heaved a sigh, high school was another pain in his ass. None of the few friends he had knew he was gay and he wasn't going to be telling them about anytime soon either. He had seen how the out of the closet gay kids were treated and Naruto didn't want a part of that. Still, he knew he had to tell Sasuke how he was feeling. He couldn't keep this secret hidden for much longer, every time he hung out with Sasuke it threatened to spill past his lips. Naruto knew eventually the secret would bust out and he would be left with his emotions on his sleeve. Naruto feared losing his best friend, but at the same time he couldn't help but wonder what would happen if Sasuke did feel the same that Naruto did? Was risking a broken heart with it if it did turn out that he felt the same? Naruto thought so, and as he pushed himself out of bed, he glanced at the photo that he had of him and Sasuke with their arms around their shoulders grinning. Sasuke wore a bright grin on his face, which practically melted Naruto's heart every time he looked at it, because his best friend was normally so gloomy after everything he'd been through in the last few years.

Sasuke and Itachi's parents had been killed in a bank robbery a two years ago. It had been unexpected, and Naruto had been spending the night at the Uchiha Mansion when Itachi had answered the door to two police officers standing there. Itachi had informed Naruto that he needed to go home, that he couldn't spend the night because something had happened to Sasuke's and his parents and he needed to discuss it with Sasuke.

Naruto remembered feeling a little lost as he'd made his way home. Sasuke had been his best friend for so long that he wondered why he had been quickly shoved out the door. For weeks after that Sasuke avoided Naruto like the plague and Naruto feared that his friendship was over and he didn't understand why. Sasuke however, had come to him a short time later and explained what had happened to his parents and that Itachi and he had had a lot to deal with at the time. Naruto of course understood and their friendship had resumed, Naruto's feelings developing.

Shaking his head, Naruto grabbed his orange shorts and black t-shirt. If he didn't get out of here and get to school on time, Arashi would have a fit and Naruto would rather that not happen. His step father was an asshole on normal days, he could be downright evil on a bad day.

Quickly getting dressed, Naruto hurried out of the small house to find Sasuke waiting right in front of the house, looking delectable in his black leather jacket and his black pants.

"Do you ever wear anything but black?" Naruto asked as exited the house and slammed the door behind him. He hurried down the side walk towards his best friend, tripping over a brick as he went.

"Are you ever not clumsy?" Sasuke asked with amusement in his voice as he watched Naruto push himself back to his feet. "Why the hurry? School isn't going anywhere?"

"I'm only clumsy around you." Naruto said, dragging his eyes down Sasuke's form. Naruto could practically feel his mouth water at the sight of the tight black jeans that seemed to meld to Sasuke's ass.

"Don't you think you should find some girl to focus that attention on?" Sasuke asked, not noticing where Naruto's eyes were focused, and Naruto blushed quickly before turning away. He supposed he should be glad that he lived close enough to the school that he could walk.

"Nah" Naruto told him. "There's not a girl good enough for my attention." he kind of hoped that Sasuke would get the hint, even if he was a stubborn bastard and would only ignore it.

"Not everyone is that bad." Sasuke said. "There's plenty of girls at school that won't drive you crazy."

"No, there's only plenty of guys there that do drive me nuts." Naruto muttered. Chancing a quick glance at Sasuke, who appeared to be more cheerful than he usually was in the morning.

"Why are you so cheerful anyways?" Naruto asked. "You're usually a broody bastard in the morning."

"No reason. Though I've been thinking about some feelings that I've been having towards someone." Sasuke said. "And I want to discuss this with them." Naruto felt his heart start to race, could it be possible that Sasuke felt the same way he did? Naruto could only hope so. Stopping in his tracks Naruto licked his lips, he didn't want to do this right in front of the entire school, because he would likely be called out for being gay and he didn't want that to happen.

"What are you doing?" Sasuke asked, pausing to watch Naruto curiously.

"I've got a confession to make." Naruto said, his throat going dry. Should he go on and tell Sasuke or should he kiss him first? Unsure of what he really needed to do, Naruto took a step towards Sasuke.

"Can't this wait?" Sasuke asked. "We're almost to school."

"No, this can't wait anymore." Naruto said softly. "I've lived with it for so long already." frowning for a moment, Naruto looked up, and leaned forward and pressed his mouth to Sasuke's.

"What are you doing?" Sasuke asked pulling away, scowling at Naruto.

"I thought you said you had certain feelings for someone" Naruto started, his face flushing with embarrassment as he realized the possibility that Sasuke had been talking about someone else.

"I can't feel that way about you." Sasuke stated. "I'm not gay I'm straight." Naruto felt tears fill his eyes, he had the feeling that Sasuke wasn't going to want anything to do with him now. "I think it would be better if we're not seen around each other for a while."

Naruto felt tears fall down his face as Sasuke turned and started walking towards school again. How was Naruto going to show his face there now? Naruto was certain that Sasuke would tell their other friends about his confession and Naruto didn't think he could face them.

"Why am I so damn stupid?" Naruto wondered as he shoved his hands into his pockets and headed in the opposite direction from the school. One thing was for sure Naruto wasn't going to show up today. His step father would have a heart attack but at this point Naruto didn't care. The only thing that mattered was the broken heart and that Naruto didn't think he would ever be able to repair the damage he'd just caused his friendship with Sasuke.

Good? Bad? Stupid? Thanks for reading and reviewing. Liz
