The story is in Carlisle POV. Edward has a younger sister named Annie in this fan fiction. Date- October 13, 1918.
I watched Anne Masen flitter around the room. She kept going back and forth between her mother, Elizabeth and her beloved brother, Edward. I liked the Masen's. They cared for each other…I was just afraid of Annie getting the influenza. She was around them so much.
Finally, Annie settled down into a chair next to Edward. She looked sick, but not with the influenza, it was with worry. Her red hair knotted down her back. Her green dress was all wrinkled, and I hadn't seen her eat at all.
"Miss Masen, I suggest if you want to stay healthy, you should go eat. You're making yourself too vulnerable."
If she wasn't a polite girl, lasers would of came out of her eyes. Finally she grimaced and sighed and left. I paid attention to Elizabeth.
Her heartbeat dropped another 25% in the last hour. She had hours, if not minutes left. I touched her head. It was so hot that she probably couldn't feel my natural temperature; everything felt cold to her.
I turned to her son. His heart beat was steady, probably dropped 2% the entire day. His body could last longer, however, compared to his mother. His immune system was stronger. The young and the old. I sighed.
He had days left. Unless his body decided to give up. Then he would die in a matter of minutes. He was a strong boy, however, so that possibility didn't seem likely.
Elizabeth's heart decreased again. I walked over to her.
"Save him!" She commanded.
"I'll try."
"Do everything in your power to save him."
Did she know about me? About me being a vampire? Oh no. She couldn't.
"Promise me."
"I promise."
How could I comply? I couldn't. Elizabeth's heart stuttered and died. She died.
I knew what I was going to do. I called over a nurse.
"Tell Anne Masen that her family died. Comfort her. Call her Aunt and Uncle. They live right out of the vicinity of the city. I'll wheel them down." I told the nurse. She nodded.
I wheeled Elizabeth and Edward to the morgue. I left Elizabeth, but I took Edward. When I got outside I jumped onto the rooftops. As I ran, I couldn't help but feel sorry for Annie Masen. She was so sweet. And just lost everything.
When I got to my house, I set Edward down on a table.
Here I go…I bent down and bit.
