Growing up was never easy for Sam Winchester. Being the only omega in an all alpha family just made it worse. The fact that they were constantly moving around, switching schools, and risking their lives to save others didn't help. Plus his father and brother always treating him like he could break any second didn't make the matter any easier. Always jumping in front of danger to keep Sam safe. Willing to die any second for the omega. Quite frankly it was tiresome and unfair.
He never choose to be born an omega. Didn't ask for his mother to be killed by a demon and certainly didn't ask to be weaker than most. Sure, Sam was stronger than all other omegas, could take down betas and the occasional alpha, but he still hated how his family wouldn't even let him go to the store alone.
The only time he was ever free was during school. Dean, having already graduated would drop him off then go and do whatever task his father had given him earlier in the day. Sam would be free from the constant watching and actually be able to talk to some alphas. It wasn't always the smartest thing to do, being he could go into his first heat any moment, but Sam was smart. He already gotten passed all the standard omega classes and had made him way into classes with more alphas and betas. He even made friends with some of them. They hardly paid any attention to him being an omega. Self-restraint went a long way in high school, and Sam was glad.
There was also the fact that no one wanted to be on the Winchester's bad side. Everyone had seen John and Dean before, when Sam first started there. The way they watched him, didn't let any one talk to him in public. There was only one who ever dared get on Dean and John's bad side, his name explained it all.
