Flattening his hair as he ran across the courtyard, James Potter had a plan. Although significantly taller than last year, he definitely hadn't put on any muscle (or weight at all for that matter). But that didn't mean he wasn't strong enough for this.
"Prongs!" A small, mouse-haired boy attempted to catch up with the black-haired runner, "Prongs, wait up!"
"Not now, Wormy, I need to focus!"
Panting, hardly able to speak, Peter gave up trying to run. He cupped his hands around his mouth and yelled to his hero, "You got it this time, Mate, I know it!" Even though he was already well to the other side of the castle by the time he had the breath to yell it.
"Who are you yelling to, Pettigrew?" A sharp voice caught him off gaurd, causing him to shrivel as if trying to shrink his body, his beady eyes squinting, and strangely long and pointy noise scrunching. Mustering the courage to look up, he realized he better think of something to say quickly, before the professor caught on that his best friend was up to something. McGonagall's eyes were piercing through his beady ones like daggers.
"Oh n-nobody, Professor, ma'am, McGonagall, jus-"
"PETER! Buddy! Thanks for that awesome pep yell! You know, the louder you say it, the more I just KNOW I've got this Charms exam!" A handsome boy, with long dark hair falling into careless locks approached the tension-filled pair, a smirk on his face and sparkle in his eyes, "but next time? Make sure you're facing the right way or people might think you've gone mad."
"Sirius! Y-yes? Yes! Of course. Right. Thank you. Yes, yes I will do that next time, of course, of course. Will do, of course."
McGonagall's dark bun seemed to tighten on its own accord, her narrowed eyes bounced back and forth between the two. "You boys get to class, I'd like to enjoy my dinner on time tonight, instead of having to sit through another detention session starring you two and Potter again! Twice this week already! Shoo!"
Success.
"Yes ma'am of course!" Beamed Sirius, his handsome smile quickly turning to Peter, he grabbed him by the shoulder and ran in the complete opposite direction of their next scheduled class. "Hurry Wormy, we can't miss it, he gonna get it this time I know he is!"
They rushed to the other side of the grounds, shoulder checking smaller first years, Peter shouting awkward apologies over his shoulder inbetween his huffing and puffing, Sirius's eyes shining with excitement and handsome face curled up in a troublesome smile. They made it to the edge of the lake, 15 minutes before the end of break. Just in time to see James's trainer disappear into the leaves of their favorite shady tree to laze under.
"What's he going to try this ti-"
"SHHH! There they are!" Sirius's hand covered Peter's, his other yanking him behind a shrub.
A beautiful freckled girl walked by, her amber hair shimmering in the sun like an ocean the color of fire. A lanky boy walked next to her, his pale face nearly gray, going sour at the sight of their beloved tree.
"Oi, Evans!"
The two unlikely friends stopped in their tracks. Both heads going in multiple direction, trying to find the source of the call as James dropped out of the tree upside down, his legs folded over a branch, keeping him steady, "catch!"
Both heads finally found what the source was. Lily Evans rolled her eyes, but stayed put, her friend kept walking. James pulled something shiny from his pocket and tossed it in her direction. The gold object suddenly sprouted little silver wings and floated towards Lily and her confused face. She hesitated, but wrapped her clammy hand around it anyways. When she looked at it, the wings had gone back into the ball. Words appeared instead:
Hang out with me sometime? -JP
