"It is a real name, I had it changed. Andy, look, they just really needed a place. They're alien refugees from space and-"

"They're illegal?!" Andy sputtered. "Wha...? You couldn't even marry an American?!"

"What does that matter?!" Greg retorted defensively.

"You turned your back on your family just so you could get in with a bunch of weirdo, hippie, Martian immigrants. You two, get the heck off my planet, out of my country, and out of my barn!" Everyone had been so caught up in the yelling and arguing that they failed to notice the cotton candy colored feline that had exited the barn. Lion walked around the humans and gems lazily, eventually sinking down between Steven and Peridot with a huge yawn as Steven scratched behind his ears.

For a second, Andy was speechless as his eyes nearly bulged out of his head. "WHAT IS THAT?! Steven, don't touch that, stay away from it!"

"Oh, Uncle Andy, don't worry, he's—" At that point, Steven was cut off by his new uncle grabbing him and literally dragging/carrying him away from the animal.

Andy turned back to Greg. "Why is that there?! Do you let it stay around, just like these hippies? Have you turned this place into a goddamn hotel for freaks or something?!" His face was getting redder by the second and a few of the gems were backing away awkwardly. Greg turned to his son for backup; Lion was really his, after all.

"Uncle Andy, it's okay! He's my lion!" Steven said, needing to almost scream to be heard. The older man stopped in his tracks to stare at the boy for a second before bending down to his level.

"Steven, I know you think he's friendly, but hanging out with a freaky, mutant animal isn't safe. No nephew of mine is gonna have his face bitten off by a lion! I'll buy you a puppy or a goldfish or something."

"No, really, I found him in the desert, he's my friend!" The boy said, sweating under his uncle's gaze.

"Yeah, seriously dude, chill out, it's just a lion, not like, a crazy giant monster or anything. Steven has seen so much worse." Amethyst cut in, and while she was trying to be reassuring, it was abundantly clear that she had failed. She wandered over to the feline, climbed into his back and wrapped both arms around his neck, burying her face in his fluffy mane for a moment before popping back up and saying, "See? Totally safe."

Watching the purple woman (woman?), Andy just had to laugh. "My nephew has a pet lion. Because of course he does. What else is weird around here?"

"To be honest, pretty much everything," Greg shrugged.

"Wait. I'm almost afraid to ask, but, why is he pink?! And for that matter, why are you purple?!" He motioned towards Amethyst. "And why are you green?!" Directed at Peridot.

"Oh my god, Andy, you can't just ask someone why they're green." Greg said in a hushed tone.
