Ever had a best friend? Sure you have! But you've never had one as crazy as mine, I assure you. I have known her since she was born, I had imprinted on her. Her parents left her so my dad took her in. She is small, ginger haired and has blue eyes with a hazel swirl, special eyes. Her name is Scarlett Rivera. She is only half werewolf but I don't care that she can't imprint, it makes it even more special. Officially, I am 21 but I look 18, she is 17 and will look that way forever as she has phased now. We live together because she can't live anywhere else but she is best friends with Jasper and Emmett Cullen. I wonder why she isn't closer with Bella, Rosalie and Alice. Scarlett says that although she has 3 best friends I am her top best friend and protector.

We were driving home on our final day of high school, graduation over when our usual, quiet car ride was broken.

"Jacob... not that I don't like it and I've never questioned it just in case but... why are you so protective of me?" she asked, her beautiful eyes staring into mine... making me melt.

"You are my best friend, Scarlett. I love you too much to see anything happen to you!" I smiled and so did she. She began thinking and pulled a frown.

"Are you okay, Scarlett?" I asked her as she broke out of thought.

"Yeah, just, just thinking about things," she replied and then the worst news of all came, a traffic jam. We sat for 2 hours and it still didn't get fixed and Scarlett began to become restless, I was like her dad!

"Scarlett, are you bored or something?" I asked her.

"No... just very tired," she yawned. She moved closer to me and hugged into me. Is she feeling okay? She never comes so close to me.

"Are you okay? You never hug me!" I smiled, stroking her hair.

"I'm fine, you are just the closest thing to anything for me. I need you because without you... I have nothing," she sighed and closed her eyes, not sleeping yet.

"Are you going to sleep there?" I asked, putting my head on hers.

"Maybe... unless you want me to move, do you?" she asked me, staring into my eyes tiredly. I shook my head and she smiled slightly and fell asleep.
