"Fionna! Wake up, sugarsweet." Prince Gumball whispered in my ear as I softly groaned. As much as I loved my adventuring life and Gumball, I felt like everyday was the same. We were always the good guys, and I needed something more.
"I'm up. Honestly, can't a girl get some sleep?"
"Fionna, we have a huge day of adventuring ahead! Ice Queen has been setting some bears on a mission to destroy the Land of Aaa!"
Great, just what I wanted. Since Cake had disappeared, I felt absolutely no motivation to fight with Gumball. That was what me and Cake did together. Not with him. And to be perfectly honest, his oh-so-sweet personality was starting to irritate me. I needed a change.
"GB, I'm sorry but I don't feel like adventuring today. You go ahead."
"But Fionna! I need you!"
"No, you don't. I can't fight anymore since Cake went. I don't want to."
After much convincing, he finally left. I started wandering around the tree house, reminiscing on the times me and Cake spent together. We were Fionna and Cake. Not Fionna and Gumball!
I slowly started to gather my belongings together into my backpack before making my way over to the table. Quickly, I scribbled down a note to Gumball - Hey GB. Won't be here anymore. I just don't want to adventure. I miss Cake. Bye, Fionna.
By the time I reached the door my heart was pounding like a drum. Did I really want to leave the one who adored me so much, when I'd already lost Cake?
Before I had time to think I felt compelled to leave. My feet took over and walked out, through the Land of Aaa until I reached the heart of the forest. It was there that I heard it.
