A Month Too Late
The first day after Christmas break and I woke up pumped. I got ready and walked into school in a good mood. I walked to my normal place and met my best friend Aiden.
As I sat down talking to Aiden about our break I got a text from the girl I had been in love with but could never have named Spencer. First it started as she was straight but now she had a girlfriend named Carmen. I had finally moved on and was now dating Kristen Stewart. The text asked,
'Can I talk to you I gotta tell you something?' I had started avoiding her when I found out she was going out with Carmen so I replied simply, 'Kinda busy' 'It's important can I meet you for lunch?' she was making it really hard to say no but I was resilient so I sent back, 'I got plans maybe some other time'.
I didn't get a text back and shortly forgot about her. The day seemed to pass quickly so before I knew it I was home doing my math homework when I got another text from Spencer asking if I was home I replied back 'Yeah why' and felt my stomach do a flip flop when the next text said 'I'll be there in five minutes'. 'Oh, shit' I thought.
The doorbell rang as I finished up my math and I opened the door as I passed to put my stuff away in my room.
"Hey, Spencer just follow me into my room" she tried to hug me but I stepped away before she could.
"Ok what was so important you just couldn't wait?"
"Ok, right to the point that's fine are you in a bad mood?"
"No, I just have places to be" that was true I had a date with Kristen in twenty minutes.
"I've been thinking the past couple of months and I realized I can't stop thinking about you because I think I'm in love with you". This took me by surprise and made me think for a minute. I snapped out of my shock as Spencer was leaning forward to kiss me and I shot back and said,
"I have a girlfriend" I looked at Spencer's eyes and saw tears start to roll down,
"I'm sorry please sit down" we sat on the bed and I explained how I had loved her but thinking it would never happen moved on and had been dating Kristen for the past month.
After she stopped crying she explained she understood and told me to be happy. I said same to you and gave her a hug as she walked out the door. We both graduated that year and haven't talked since then but I'll always remember her.
