It's here! It's finally here! After about a month of hard work and strenuous typing, I finally have accomplished completing A Lesson in Love so that I may start on this wonderful fanfiction! And now that I'm finished, I'm taking a break from Zelink for a while! So now I'm going to focus more on CalemxSerena, which should get very interesting. I read this fanfiction before called Haunted by the Past, and it was a SerenaxCalem love story, and it was amazing! So if you're interested in Kalosshipping, you should definitely check it out. I got inspired to write one after I read that one, so here I am now! And btw, before we started, in this story I made Serena have a red fedora for her signature hat instead of the pink one, because my character in Pokemon Y wears the red fedora.
Note: I do not own Pokemon or Nintendo. If I did, Kalosshipping would be a thing, and so would Zelink! But I wish I did own it. Oh well, a girl can dream, right?
"Caen? Is that you? Oh how I've missed you so much!" Serena exclaimed as she ran towards her best friend and gave him a huge hug. "I thought you lived in Kanto, how are you here in Kalos?"
"Well, my mother got a job offering to work in the North part of Lumiose City, and since that's the largest city in Kalos, it pays very well! So she took the job and now we're moving to Vaniville! Isn't that amazing? Now I get to live my dream of becoming a Pokemon master with you!" Caen smiled, hugging Serena back gently.
"Oh Caen, that's wonderful news! I'm so happy for you!" Serena replied, smiling brightly.
"Sereenna? Serena, the neighbors from next door are here to see you!" Serena's mother Grace called up the stairs, awakening Serena from her good dream. Serena sat up in bed and rubbed her eyes, yawning and stretching in the process.
"Alright mother, I'm coming!" Serena called down before throwing the covers off and walking to her closet to get dressed. After she had put on her usual outfit of the sleeveless black top with a red skirt, she put on her red fedora and white sunglasses.
As Serena walked down the stairs, she was greeted by her mother, who seemed way more energetic than normal. "They're waiting to meet you outside, sweetie!" Grace said, gesturing towards the door. Serena gave her mom a small smile before opening the door and seeing her neighbors for the very first time.
But before she could even take one step outside, Serena saw a flurry of pink as she was tightly hugged by one of her neighbors. Over their shoulder, she could see a boy leaning against the gate, giving her a small smile. He wore a blue jacket with blue jeans and black sneakers, and Serena guessed that his favorite color was probably blue.
Serena let go of the stranger and finally got a good look at who she just hugged. It was a girl about her age, with long brunette hair tied into adorable pigtails and sparkling green eyes. She had on a pink shirt, blue shorts, and pink sneakers, with a white purse to go along with it.
"Hi, I'm Shauna, and it's really nice to meet you!" the girl exclaimed, smiling very widely. Serena had to glance away to be able to speak, because she was honestly a little creeped out by this stranger's huge friendliness. "Hi, I'm Serena, and it's nice to meet you too." She finally managed to say, cracking a small smile.
"Eeek! We're going to be the best of friends, I just know it! Now come with me, Professor Sycamore is letting us choose our very own Pokemon, and I've been waiting for you to wake up so that we could go together!" Shauna squealed as she gripped onto Serena's wrist and practically dragged her to Aquacorde City.
But before they could move past the gates in Vaniville, the mysterious boy blocked their exit and gave Shauna a stern look. "Shauna, you have got to stop dragging people against their will all over the place! Let go of her, you're probably hurting her! Besides, I haven't gotten the chance to meet her anyways, so you're just going to have to wait a little while longer."
"Oh Calem, you're such a debby downer!" Shauna pouted. "I can't wait another second, I'm going to Aquacorde to meet my new Pokemon! You slowpokes can come join me when you're ready! See you there!" she waved before walking towards the next town.
Serena slightly blushed now that she realized that Calem had wanted to meet her alone. She had plenty of guy friends back in Kanto, but this place was much different. And for some reason, Serena had trouble finding her voice when Calem was standing that close to her. He just seemed so intimidating.
Seeing that she was nervous, Calem cracked a small smile. "It's okay, I'm not going to hurt you or anything. I just never got the chance to properly introduce myself. I'm Calem, and I'm just excited as Shauna is to get a Pokemon, but she has a harder time controlling her energy. Sometimes, I think she has way too much energy. That girl probably eats nothing but candy." he joked.
Serena smiled and slightly blushed as she realized just how close she was standing to Calem. "Um, I'm Serena, and I just moved here. I already received my first Pokémon back in Kanto, but I can't wait to see what kind of Pokemon you have here!"
"Woah, you're from Kanto? I've heard stories about that place, which Pokemon did you get?" Calem asked curiously.
Serena smiled, it was nice to make new friends. "Why tell you when I can just show you? Come on out, Luke!" she exclaimed, holding a Pokeball in her hand.
"Char!" the Charmander exclaimed as it came out of its ball. Calem gasped as his eyes went wide, he had never seen a real live Charmander before! "Wowza, it's an actual Charmander! I've always wanted one, but they're so rare! Can I pet him?"
"Of course! Just watch out for his tail, you don't want to burn yourself!" Serena giggled.
Calem knelt down and gave Luke a big pat on the head. "You are so cute, little guy!" he exclaimed as he pinched his cheeks, cooing at the small Pokemon.
Suddenly, Calem's face felt very hot, and he screamed in pain when he realized what had happened. Luke blew hot fire right at his face, and Serena laughed hysterically.
"Ouch, what did you do that for, Luke?" Calem grumbled, obviously upset. "Luke has never really been friendly around people, especially boys. In fact, the only people that he hasn't burned are me and my mother Grace. I don't know why, but for some reason, he's very protective of me! And also, he doesn't like to have his cheeks pinched, and he doesn't like to be called cute." Serena giggled louder.
"Well next time, I'll be more careful, Serena." Calem grumbled. "Anyway, we should probably get going, the others are probably wondering where we are, and I don't want to miss out on the opportunity of a lifetime. So, let's go!"
Luke jumped up on Serena's shoulder and perched himself right on the top. He gave her an affectionate lick and Serena giggled, being mindful not to put her long honey blonde hair near his tail. As they walked through the pathway to Aquacorde, Calem wondered how a Charmander could be so picky when it came to friends.
When they got there, they both saw three new Pokemon standing on a table, waiting patiently for their arrival. When Serena sat down, Shauna gasped when she saw her Charmander. "I didn't know you had a Pokemon! Aww, he's such a cutie!" she said as she affectionately rubbed his head and pinched his cheeks.
"Char!" the Charmander exclaimed happily as he licked Shauna affectionately. Calem grumbled quietly to himself when he saw this gesture, why did Charmander not like him?
Serena giggled as she pet her Charmander affectionately. "This is Luke, my Charmander from Kanto. He's been my friend since the very beginning. And I'm Serena by the way, it's nice to meet you."
Suddenly, Serena noticed two strangers who sat across the table from them. They were looking at Serena with amazement, and staring at Charmander with great curiousity. "Woah! You used to live in Kanto?" the older chubbier stranger finally spoke. "Yeah, it was a beautiful place. But now I'm here, and I can't wait to begin my Pokemon journey!" Serena replied.
"Well, that's awesome! Anyway, there are three Pokemon here that the professor told me to give to you three. I don't know who should go first, but they're each equally strong and friendly, so you don't have to worry about that! My name is Trevor by the way, it's very nice to meet you." The other stranger replied as he gave Serena a quick kiss on the hand.
Serena slightly blushed, was this the proper way to greet a lady in Kalos? Then how come the other stranger or Calem didn't do it? "Thank you Trevor, that's very kind of you to say." she smiled.
After a period of awkward silence, Shauna spoke up. "Man, I can't wait to pick one! Can I go first, please?" she said, looking around at everyone.
"Alright," everyone else said in a chorus of agreement. Shauna smiled and excitedly reached her hand out to pet the grass type Chespin. "I choose you, Chespin! I can't wait to be your friend and train you in battle!" she smiled, hugging it very tight.
Serena smiled and rolled her eyes, hoping that Shauna wouldn't accidently squeeze the life out of her Pokemon. She looked at the remaining two Pokemon, one looked like a frog and the other a beautiful fox. But before she chose, Calem finally spoke up. "Ladies first," he insisted, giving her a warm smile.
Serena petted the fox Pokemon and glanced up at Trevor. "What's this Pokemon called?" she asked, unsure of the names. "That's Fennekin, the fire type Pokemon. I guess your favorite type is fire, am I right?" he slightly smirked.
"Yeah, fire has always been my favorite type." Serena responded. She looked at her adorable little Fennekin and sighed happily. "I can't wait to be your friend! I think I'll call you Sunny!"
"That's a beautiful name, Serena! I should name my Chespin too! I'll call him Chester, it even sounds adorable!" Shauna exclaimed.
Calem smiled as he petted the frog Pokemon. "Then I guess you're all mine, Froakie. I'll call you Kai for short."
"Well now that I have my Chester, I can finally battle! Serena, I challenge you to a battle!" Shauna exclaimed, hoping that she would accept.
"Shauna, I have two Pokemon and you only have one! Are you sure you want to battle me?" Serena asked hesitantly.
"Of course she does, because we can make it a double battle!" Calem exclaimed, walking up to stand next to Shauna. It can be my Froakie and her Chespin versus your Fennekin and your Charmander! What do you say to that, Serena?" Calem asked.
"Let's do it! That'll be fair!" Serena smiled.
"Alright Charmander and Fennekin, are you ready?" Serena asked her Pokemon as they faced their enemies. When they responded with a happy roar, Serena took that as a yes and made her first move.
"Alright, Luke use Ember on Chester, and Sunny use Scratch on Froakie!" Serena commanded.
"Char!" Luke exclaimed as he aimed a weak fire at Chester. The minute it hit Chester, he screamed in pain at the flames and almost fainted. Sunny ran up to Kai and rapidly scratched his face, causing him to fall over, writhing in pain.
"Kai, no!" Calem exclaimed as he watched his Pokemon waiver. "Stay strong, buddy! Use scratch back at Sunny!"
As soon as those words left his lips, Kai jumped up and angrily charged at Sunny. He scratched her and she fought back, but the ultimate victor was Sunny. Kai fainted and Calem recalled him back to his ball.
"You did a good job, Kai! Return!" Calem commanded as the Pokemon went back into his ball. "It's all up to you now, Shauna."
"Alright, Chester, we have to win! Use scratch against Luke!"
"Chespin!" the Pokemon exclaimed as he ran up to Luke. But before he could swipe, Luke blasted him with Ember, and Chester fainted on the ground.
"Luke, you're only supposed to use Ember when I say so!" Serena exclaimed. Luke roared apologetically, and Serena immediately forgave him. "It's alright buddy, just don't do it again!"
"Chester! Oh, poor baby!" Shauna exclaimed as she ran up to her Pokemon. "You're really strong Serena, even better than Calem! I bet you'll become a great Pokemon master!"
"Yeah, that was a great battle Serena." Calem smiled as he walked up to her. "Anyway, I'm probably going to go train Kai some more, he has some work to do! I'll see you ladies later!" he waved as he walked away with Kai.
"I'm going to go to the forest with Chespin and see if we can catch some more critters! I'll see you later too, Serena!" Shauna waved goodbye as she ran to the forest.
"And we're going to head back to Lumiose City where Professor Sycamore is and make sure that he doesn't need any more favors from us. See you later, Serena!" Trevor waived goodbye.
The chubby stranger walked up to Serena with a bright beam on his face. "I'm Tierno, and I thought your battle was amazing! Maybe we could battle sometime! Anyway, it was nice meeting you! See you later!" he called as they both disappeared from sight.
Serena smiled down at Sunny and Luke, and she knelt down to hug them. "Oh guys, you're so amazing! You both did an amazing job, I'm so proud of you! Let's go back home to show mother our new friend, Luke!" she exclaimed as she turned around and headed back towards Vaniville. Serena knew that with all the good friends she had just met, she was going to have an amazing time in Kalos.
So, that is chapter one! I'm so excited for this fanfiction, I already have the basic plot written down, and I'm pretty sure this will end up being my second longest project after True Love. Anyway, Chapter 2 will come out soon!
