Worth savin' me

"Come please, I'm calling,

And it's all I need from you

Hurry please, I'm falling."

As he fell to the ground I felt nothing. No remorse, no regret, nothing; just emptiness, wide and hollow settling low in the pit of my stomach.

My breathing slowed as the raining sped up, the adrenaline that had been pumping through my veins slowly running out. I glanced down at his young face, worn from our fight, the scratches and bruises covering his lovely sun kissed profile like a mask.

And in that sudden moment, I reached out and placed my hand on his face. The action was out of place, wrong from the moment, but my hand seemed to have a mind of it's own, yearning for the touch of warm skin. His eyes fluttered behind closed lids, as if dreaming.

I cocked my head, the hand sliding down his unnaturally pale cheek, turning into a soft stroke. My eyes stormed with pity as he sat before me, helpless and broken.

I hadn't planned on staying this long, I was supposed to be long gone by now, but something about his soft, hazy expression that kept me in place. I needed this, needed to tell Naruto something. Even if he wouldn't remember it, I needed it.

I caressed his cheek, running my fingers over the long stretched scars. "It wasn't supposed to end like this," I said softly to his unconscious body. My fingers slid across his skin. "You weren't supposed to let me go, Naruto." My expression remained stoic as my hand slipped off his cheek.

I dropped the scarred headband into the water, letting out a soft exhalation. I was done, no longer a part of this life.

I leaned down to press my lips to his burning forehead, in a final goodbye.

"Too late now," I whispered softly, pulling away from him. And with that, I turned around and walked away, never looking back.

A//N: ALRIGHT HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING IN A WHILE, CLAPS FOR THE UPDATE! WOO. ...unfortuantely math class is starting and I really ought to get to class, I mean, I already spent my whole science period writing this darn thing, I need to pass at least ONE subject.
YEAHWELL. Setting is after the whole epic SASUNARU fight, where Naruto was all like, -FAINTS/FALLSINWATER-. Yeah and Sasuke just kind of left. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED WHEN THEY BROKE FOR COMMERCIAL, YEAH? ...Yeah, my plot is cooler than the actual story line. 333
