Sara couldn't take it anymore. It's not that she didn't

love her job, she did, she had just seen and been

through too much. She wasn't sleeping. Sara was

thankfull that Gil was on a different shift so that

he didn't know she couldn't sleep. She rested when

he was home with her, but she didn't sleep. She

never slept anymore. Sara could fool them all, even

Gill, she knows him better than anyone ever has

and she knew how to fool him. He thought she was

ok, he thought she was working through it all, but

she wasn't. She didn't want to admit that her time

under the car and wandering in the desert changed her.

It had. Forever.

Sara was always an emotional person, that wasn't new.

She loved her work, lived for her work, and now she

only wanted to live. She hated the crime and the death.

She just couldn't take another murder, or rape. It's

just too much.

She was exposed when she was taken. She was proud of

her wonderful and fulfilling relationship with Gil Grissom,

and eventually wanted to tell the world about it, but at

their own time, at their own pace. Natalie took even that

away from them. They were out, and exposed and after

she got out of the hospital, they had to deal with their

friends and coworkers, and Ecklie.

Not only did Sara have to deal with her broken arm, her

cuts, bruises and her heat stroke, she had to deal with

people. People busting into her privacy and she hated it.

No one knew that she and Gill bought a house. No one knew

that they had a dog, Hank. No one knew that they were

seriously thinking of getting married. No one knew that

they were totally in love and in a very committed relationship.

Well, they do now.

Sara didn't like everyone knowing what was going on, so when

Gill suggested that they get married, and she said yes, they didn't

tell a soul. They went out that evening and got married quietly.

They didn't wear their rings at work and they didn't plan to- at

least for a while. So, when Sara couldn't take any of it anymore,

it made matters worse that she had told Gil the night before that

she was pregnant.

She had rushed out of an interrogation room when Gil caught up

to her. He said he was worried about...she cut him off. No,

no one was going to know right now and there was no way she

was going to stay here anymore. She had to get out of the lab.

She had to go home. She went and got in her car and drove

home. After Gil got back into his office, he found a note from

his wife.

The note read:

Gil,

I am not happy. I am tired of death and crime. After my father

died, I put all my time into death and crime. Now I can't. I won't

do it anymore. I can't. I love you dearly, and hope you will

understand.

I want to spend the rest of my life living quietly with you, my

love, and our child. I may do something someday, maybe not.

I will be waiting for you after your shift.

I am sorry, I hope you are not disappointed in me.

Love always,

Sara

Gil left work early and went home. He found Sara asleep on the sofa.

She slept for the first time in months. She was even smiling in her

sleep.

Peaceful at last.
