He listened to the frequent Max Payne updates on a static-ridden radio all night. They said he killed his partner and long-time friend. Now, he was eliminating some of the biggest names in crime. That didn't make a whole helluva lot of sense to him.
Then again, many things didn't make sense to him, such as being cloned and identified by a number instead of your name. Sometimes he found it was best not to question things. He'd seen many men go crazy in his line of work. Maybe Max was just another casualty of the madness.
He opened his suitcase, pulling out a neatly pressed black pants and jacket. Next, he unfolded a crisp white shirt and removed a sleek pair of leather gloves from a hidden compartment in his suitcase. He dressed slowly, listening to the more and more frequent updates on Max.
"This just in," the reporter's voice oozed with the kind of sleazy excitement he had come to associate with their kind. Reporters were nothing more than modern predators. "Max Payne has been apprehended."
The man turned off the radio. He picked up a pair of chrome ballers from his dresser, attaching the extended silencers. "Time for work," he said aloud, his voice echoing into the empty room.
He opened his laptop, waiting patiently for it to find a connection. "Hello 47," the familiar voice filled the near empty room. He raised an eyebrow—his only show of emotion—as his mission was explained to him.
His objective: Kill Max Payne.

Author's Notes: A drabble is a story usually told in one hundred words – a little more or a little less. This is a little longer than 100 words, but I'm still getting the hang of this drabble thing. I'm working on a large piece based around the team up of Max Payne and 47 (Tobias Rieper), but that won't be up for some time.
