Before the rebellion led by Spartacus,

and even before he was a gladiator in the house of Batiatus,

the house was not as famous as it was

when he fought in the arena for it.

When Quintus Batiatus was still trying to become known,

he purchased two slaves,

who were building the new Arena of Capua.

The two slaves were brother and sister from the land of Gaul.

The brother had started a fight with another slave,

when Quintus Batiatus saw him and

bought him to make him a Gladiator.

Fearing to be separated from his sister,

the brother begged Batiatus to take her as well.

Batiatus almost didn't take her,

but when another Roman convinced him,

he bought both siblings.

He made the brother a recruit,

and the sister a bodyslave for his wife, Lucretia.

That was the day when the house of Batiatus became the home to Crixus,

who would one day become the Champion of Capua,

and Cassandra, who would become best friend to Naevia and later,

the lover to the God of the Arena, Gannicus.
