It was just a normal day for Nick Wilde, he and Judy were assigned a typical patrol around a suspected store robbery downtown. They parked behind an alley to observe any suspicious activity. Nick felt confident that he could handle this case, while Judy examined the outside area for any other clues. It only took Nick a few minutes to find someone trying to directly rob a store front, but he never suspected the identity of the actual perpetrator.
That zebra from the scouts troop, the one that muzzled him.
"Oh? If it isn't ol' Nicky. Long time no see..." He said that last part in an almost taunting voice. Nick's only reaction was a barely audible gasp, but his stare remained stern and threatening.
"I bet you remember your old friend, the muzzle, right?" The moment the zebra pulled out the muzzle, he charged him, but the only thing that happened was Nick's arm reacting instantly to counter the zebra's arm, shattering his elbow. The zebra staggered out the front door in panic, but Nick easily chased him down and tackled him to the ground, cuffing him in the process as he held his head to the ground to restrain him.
"You have the right to remain silent! Anything you say can and will be used again-Gah!" A sudden jolt of pain shot up his arm. He realized his hand was crushed between the zebra's jaw, but he wasted no time in taking the muzzle he dropped and securing it to the struggling zebra.
Nick was so concentrated in containing the crook that he didn't notice Judy requresting backup, and most of the cops were preoccupied at the moment so Chief Bogo responded to the call. Both he and Judy looked in shock and amazement at how confident Nick looked in this otherwise traumatizing situation. The only jolted from their thoughts when Nick shut the door with the zebra inside. His demeanor suddenly changed to extreme pain, holding his broken hand.
"Chief! Take the car!" Bogo nodded and hopped in the van, starting it and driving back to ZPD. Judy was still somewhat in shock as Nick half limped to her. "Judy, get me to the hospital, immediately!" She nodded nervously and started their own car on their way to the hospital.
"Is Nick going to be okay!?" Judy was unreasonably panicked about Nick's condition.
"Calm down, it's not like he's dying. He just has metacarpal fractures. He'll be fine." The doctor's kind words were doing nothing to help calm the panicked bunny. She was directed to Nick's room, where he was just resting on one of the hospital beds, a cast formed around his left hand.
"Hey, Carrots..." Nick looked over at Judy at the doorway, who was still a bit teary-eyed. "Don't tell me you were worried about me?"
Judy ran towards his bed, hugging him tightly. "Of course you had me worried!"
The hug lasted for a few minutes before Judy sat up on his bed. "You almost seemed like a different person back there. The old Nick would've crumbled seeing that muzzle..."
Nick ran a paw through the fur on Judy's neck, which she held with her own paws. "You've really come a long way, haven't you Nick?"
"Sly bunny."
"Dumb fox."
