Happy Day two Laura! I posting this one first, just for you! I hope you like it!
Keller gazed out the balcony over the large, vast ocean of her new, foreign world. When she woke up that morning the first thought that popped into her head was the date.
April 22, 2011.
What a date! A celebration of the earth was taking place a million miles away in a completely different galaxy. Keller had grown up around Earth Day. It was the time she would plant new flowers in her garden, it was the time her parents would serenade her dressed as hippies, and it was the time she would get into arguments with her only friend, Jeremy the giant floating Radish.
"You're killing our landfills!" He would tell her.
But what is the point of celebrating Earth Day when you're not on Earth?
Her teammates didn't see a point.
Keller straitened her back and started to walk down the stairs to go to the botany lab, where at least she would get a little taste of the environment. Her stride was cut short when her face met the hard chest of a man. She looked up to see none but Ronan; his locks fell into his face as he looked down at her.
"Hey" he said to her roughly.
"Hey," she replied awkwardly.
"Where are you going?"
"Nowhere," she stepped back, "Nowhere at all."
Ronan smiled. "Do you know what today is?" he asked.
"Yes, yes I do."
"It's Good Friday." He said. Keller looked shocked.
"I didn't know you were catholic!" she exclaimed.
"Oh! Devout!" He crossed himself. They share a brief laugh.
The two walked down the hallway as Keller explained Earth Day and its traditions. Ronan had never on Earth, but he understood the need of environmental care.
It was Groundhog's Day he didn't understand.
He suggested to her that they'd go to the mainland. Jennifer Keller agreed wholeheartedly, and soon they got an escort.
When the got to the mainland, Ronan revealed that he had brought along an acorn. Keller looked at that acorn so intently that she almost didn't notice the gleam in her companion's eye. But she saw it. She saw it well enough.
After planting their acorn, the couple went back to the city. Its magnificence overcame them once again. It was a sight one could never get used to.
He left her to get changed when they came back. McKay came up to him.
"I heard about the Earth day thing, why would you do that? It's a stupid holiday,"
"You know," Ronan replied, "Keller's…"
"Beautiful? Smart? Funny?"
"Beautiful? Try supermegafoxyawesomehot!"
Just then Keller ran up to Ronan and gave him quick kiss. She giggled and ran away again.
McKay stood there,, mouth wide open.
"I got dibs on this Earth Day thing next year!" he exclaimed.
This was the beginning of part two of my twelve part series for my dear friend, Laure Ingles. (This name is coded, don't try to stalk her!)
But if anyone other than this sole person shall dub my story entertaining, can you please review?
It would mean a lot to me!
