Prelude
To be a magus is to walk with death
That was one of the very first things his father told when him when he finally started to learn magecraft. It would also be echoed by his teacher and lover Rin Tohsaka whenever she taught him. He did pay attention to the sentiment though he never did think of himself as a Magus. He really had no interest in reaching the root or doing research. Like his father, in all honesty, he was more of a spellcaster.
He had left with Rin in order to pursue his dream and had been going around helping people and trying to by a hero of justice like his father. Often going to the middle east and other areas when he had to deal with the moonlit world.
He never thought that he would be facing death this early. Oh god, Rin was going to kill him. She probably gonna drag me up alive and kill me again.
He layed on the ground bleeding profusely from his left arm from a stab from a ghoul. Sweat glistened across his forehead. His clothes in tatter and his face partially covered by his shroud.
His eyes fluttering open and closed repeatedly.
All of the injuries at the hand of a dead apostle. The mission was going perfectly, A dead apostle had gotten into a village and infected the local population. It was a standard extermination operation. What the Intel missed was that there were three dead apostles and when he got to them they were sharing a resonance and half the enforcers were dead. The remaining ones had peeled off and retreated but he couldn't risk that. There was another town only 30 minutes away with about twice the population of the current village. So he fought against a highly unfavorable amount of dead. Using black key alone would not be enough so he had to pull into his reality marble and pull out some more powerful noble phantasms. He did win but he was completely drained and injured severely. Normally Avalon would be able to take care of his injuries but he was too injured and he could put any prana into it to speed it up.
He reluctantly forced himself up and dragged himself to a river nearby and fell onto the back of the tree.
Looking at the river Shirou couldn't help but chuckle at what he saw.
"Guess I really do look like him huh"
With his spiked white hair, silver eyes and tanned skin he was the spitting image of Counter Guardian attire was also pretty much the same and he remembered the day when Ciel gave him the shroud he laughed and the ridiculousness of it. As he traveled around with Rin
Due to his constant use of tracing his fair turn whitish silver and his skin tanned, He had also gotten taller to his current height of around 6.1. He remembered Rin reaction when he came back with the shroud of Martin after receiving it earlier from Ciel. He decided to take the same look as EMIYA, not in admiration no I absolutely despise him but take on the appearance in a form of defiance showing him I can be a hero.
As seconds passed it became increasingly harder to stay awake and he was aware the darkness was creeping up on him and his time was limited. He tore off a piece of his shroud and traced a pencil and wrote his final message to Rin. As soon as he finished he threw the pencil away and placed his head against the tree.
"Guess this is it huh, Sorry Rin but I won't be able to make it back home. Sorry everyone but I won't be coming back.
As Shirou closed his eyes, a shadow in the back vanished and a bright light orb surrounded Shirou before he vanished.
Notes
Hey everyone. So this is my first ever fanfiction I ever have written so constructive criticism is highly appreciative. As I have mentioned this is the prelude which there should be one or maybe two more preludes coming. I should be getting into the story after that and all the crossover is a short chapter and the next few chapters will be a little short still as I start getting used to this stuff
